  1. Found the problem......and thanks for all the great suggestions. I have never heard of the "hidden administrator account" I will have to remember that one. What I found was, I had used "FSX Reg Utility" to check to see if the correct path to Steam FSX was set in the Registry and it appeared to be correct so I didn't change it. Well a buddy of mine suggested that I reset it on the off chance that it appeared correct but really wasn't, and sure enough that was exactly what was going on. As soon as I reset the correct path to FSX Steam in the 2 Registry positions that show up in FSX RegUtility it started working correctly and I could install any aircraft I wanted. Thanks again everyone. Randy
  2. Thanks fellas. I tried the Everyone group change and it made no difference. This is really bizarre....I can not figure out what the heck is going on here. I even checked the Attributes in the Properties section of the FSX folder under the General Tab and it has Read only checked so I tried to uncheck it and it appears to run and change all the sub folders and files but when you go back to check it...it says Read Only. So I am stumped.
  3. I have a brand new Windows 10 install with FSX-SE installed. When ever I try to install a new aircraft I get an "error opening file for writing" error and it refers to a file in steamapps\common\fsx\effects\fx_carldnc177.fx If I click ignore I get an error on another file relating to the aircraft. It doesn't appear to matter which aircraft I try to install. I am signed on as Administrator and have gone into User Account Control and moved the slider to the bottom and am running FSX-SE as Administrator and am running the aircraft install program as Administrator. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate the help. Randy
  4. I just got the Pawnee and love it, except for there not being a manual. There are screen shots on the Alabeo website showing a Chemical Loader but I can not find out how to access it. Does anyone have this plane and have figured out how to access the Chemical Loader? Randy
  5. Name: FSX Fiber Accelerator Comparison Test Category: Home Cockpit Videos Date Added: 05 July 2014 - 09:41 AM Submitter: --Randy-- Short Description: Testing the FSPS Fiber Accelerator. Post Source: FSX Fiber Accelerator? View Video
  6. I have made 2 videos comparing with and without using the Fiber Accelerator. I am a bit reluctant to post these because then the attacks will begin....but here goes. http://youtu.be/p6QjTpxe_0E http://youtu.be/w-W6YwZ1eU4
  7. While reading ( yes I actually read it ) in the PMDG 777 Introduction Manual, on page 21 I read the best explanation of "Out of Memory" errors I have ever read. I would like to copy out of this manual this section called VAS Management and put it on my flying club's forum. Can I get permission from a PMDG support person to copy this information. All over the manual it says "Do Not Duplicate" so I don't want to get in trouble with PMDG. Thanks for any help on this. Randy
  8. Thanks Guys.....will check with PMDG and try and figure out what has happened.
  9. After installing FS2Crew, when I bring down my HUD there is no display inside the HUD. I checked my dll.xml and it appears to be correct. Anyone have any idea's on how to turn it back on?
  10. I received a fix for this problem from PMDG Support. This fixes the flashing or jumping cursor problem when using a 2D panel for those of us using "Eyefinity", "Surround" or TripleHead2Go. Included are PANEL files for the 737NGX,...747-400 and the MD11. Here is a link to the files...BE SURE TO READ THE README.TXT FILE. I assume it is ok with Avsim and PMDG to share these files...I guess we will see. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/20158346/PMDG_Surround_cfgs.zip I hope this helps others with this issue.

  12. Thanks Michael, but our problem is that the manual for FS2Crew says to set FSX for 2D mode when it starts up....if we do that we get a cursor that is showing busy all the time and it drives you crazy.
  13. I have the same issue and would love to know if there is a fix for this.
  14. Thanks for the reply...I will give it a try.
  15. I just got FS2Crew for the PMDG 737NGX and the first thing it says in the manual is to set up FSX to start in 2D Mode. I can not do this because I am using Eyefinity Wide Screen and you get the JUMPING cursor problem in planes with a 2D Cockpit. Does FS2Crew need to start in 2D?? If so...does anyone know how to get the PMDG to work with 2D Cockpits without getting the jumping cursor?
  16. I was wanting to do some air file editing and was wondering is any of you were doing any playing around with air files? It seems like so many of the posts about air file editing on Avsim are very old and I was wondering if anyone was still playing around with them. Thanks for any info you may have on air file editing.
  17. To make things a bit clearer. I accidentaly plugged the SSD into the ASMedia connector when I first set up the computer and installed Win 8 onto it. When I realize my mistake I tried to move the SATA cable to an Intel SATA connector and when I try and reboot the computer just shuts down. Now the SSD will only boot when it is plugged into the ASMedia slot. I tried installing the SATA software from the disk that came with the MOBO and that really screwed things up and I had to do a restore.....so now I am afraid to try and do much upgrading. Should I at least load the Chipset software that came with the MOBO?
  18. I have just put together a new computer with an Asus P877-V Pro Mother Board and with Windows 8. I am having problems with the SATA connections. I wanted to connect my SSD C: drive to the Intel 6 GB SATA connectors but it will only boot up when I connect it to the #1 ASMedia 6GB connector. If I connect it to any other SATA connector including 3GB the computer starts to boot up and when it gets to loading up Windows the computer shuts off.....weird. Also I have a DATA drive from another computer that I wanted to put in this computer and the BIOS sees the drive but it does not show up in Drive Management. I have tried plugging it into different SATA ports but nothing. Anyone have this MOBO and do you have any ideas of what is going on??? Thanks.
  19. Hey Ikarus....I'll tell you what I ended up doing. I saved a copy of fsx.cfg and then deleted the original so FSX would rebuild it when I started FSX....after that it worked fine.
  20. Thanks a lot BartEnder.....appreciate the help.
  21. Hey thanks a lot....but you lost me on the Ryan (Tabs)....how do I find Ryan and is Tabs his last name or what does that mean?
  22. I have a purchased version of the J41 and I am trying to run it on FSX installed on Windows 7 64 Bit. When I go in to "Select Aircraft" and then click on OK....FSX hesitates for about 10 seconds then has a Fatal Error and Restarts. I have tried uninstalling the J41 and reinstalling.........same thing. Has anyone run into this issue or have any ideas to try. Thanks for any help. Randy
  23. Thanks Fabo.....great Video.
