Hey Anders, I'm using the same FlightBeam visual pack with no problems - your error is to do with the original P3D shaders missing I think. I had it once before and just reinstalled them (in v4). When I updated to v4.1 I think the defaults were again reinstalled so I didn't receive this error using the new PTA version today. Have you opened PTA immediately after updating to v4.1?

That's really odd - I'm pretty sure it automatically found my order as I really don't remember having to do anything to register it with SimTweaks. That said I don't remember having a SimTweaks account but today I had to reset my password as my email was registered - therefore I must have registered at some point and there is a chance I linked the SimMarket order to it? Perhaps Matt or someone else can clarify how it works...I honestly cannot remember!

When I log in I see my order and when I click "view" on the right hand side it takes me to a page with the order information in SimTweaks - on the right of this page is a download link which is for 2.60. It also has my SimMarket PTA key and all info on this page. Can you access that page? If you have bought from SimMarket I think it automatically appears in SimTweaks - I don't remember having to register anything with SimTweaks...(that doesn't mean I didn't though...)

Thanks Ian for trying and confirming - that's exactly what happened to me. I'll wait to hear from Henrik or alternatively try to contact the AVSim library team - not sure how to though. James -

Hi guys, I have been trying to download the packages and I can get v2 no problems but v1 stops downloading almost immediately, after only a couple of MB. I have tried in different browsers and with/without download managers and anti virus but it keeps interrupting. V2 was fine and download the entire 200MB package fine. Is the link perhaps broken? -
Sure - www.p3dwiki.com Rob has an excellent range of settings for different circumstances on there which I have set up as profiles in SimStarterNG and tweaked for my own personal system. That said, I am using about 90% of what he outlines on there with really good results and switching between the settings depending on what I fly. Last night I flew the PMDG 777 using his Com City Day settings with a couple of sliders one step further to the right (traffic etc) and had a great flight from CYVR to KSFO over Orbx Regions using FSDT's CYVR and FlightBeams new KSFOHD2 - this was a notoriously difficult route for me on my old set up (not including the guaranteed OOM's I'd get) but last night I got smooth performance with beautiful scenery.

A quick revisit as I'm finally all set up in Iceland after my move from Hong Kong. What changes there have been in that time! My system is absolutely loving P3D v4. Despite all these massive CPUs from AMD and Intel, single core performance seems to still be the most important thing with P3D and I'm having terrific results at 5.1Ghz with my 1080Ti. So nice to be flying again, not tweaking or worrying about OOMs. That's Max in particular previously for all the great advice, it was spot on!

7700k here running at 5.1GHz in P3D v4 with a GTX 1080 Ti and couldn't be happier. Performance is astonishing, even at high slider settings (I use Rob's P3Dwiki as a starting guideline) - even at lower FPS (below 30FPS) performance is smooth. I'm so glad I went for the 7700k over an AMD Ryzen with more cores. Single core performance is still king it seems and I've never had such good sim performance (not to mention more OOMs).

The Change to 64 Bit - What Exactly Happens?
JamesIceland replied to JamesIceland's topic in The Prepar3d Forum
Well it turns out that the answer to the original question I posted was much more general: It fixes everything and most add on developers were ready or able to update really quickly. All that worry we had about compatibility (especially with aircraft e.g PMDG) was unfounded. Almost all developers have released updates with no issues. I for one am finding the performance to be superb and I'm delighted with how the change to 64 bit has gone. -
A quick update on my bench marking. I have run tests at 5GHz initially, with no manual over clock on the GPU - just using it's standard boost (which goes to 1,946MHz). I have also finally had the chance to do some initial over clocking - I've set my CPU at 5.1GHz with Voltage at 1.375v. This ran stable for 30 mins on Realbench - I may drop the voltage a bit more. Temps maxed at 70c (it's hot here today too). Here are the Fire Strike Results I have run - Test 1 is 5GHz and Test 2 is 5.1GHz : 3DMark Score 21 847 22 137 + 1.3 % Graphics Score 29 415 29 745 + 1.1 % Physics Score 15 367 15 636 + 1.8 % Combined Score 9 512 9 648 + 1.4 % Graphics Test 1 142.48 fps 143.33 fps + 0.6 % Graphics Test 2 116.02 fps 117.82 fps + 1.6 % Physics Test 48.78 fps 49.64 fps + 1.8 % Combined Test 44.24 fps 44.88 fps + 1.4 % Pretty much what everyone has said - a minimal FPS increase from the 100MHz boost to the CPU. Interestingly my Time Spy were almost identical, within a much smaller margin of difference between them i.e. the 100MHz increase made no difference. Now for some more interesting results - comparing my old 3930k system with my new 7700k system - I ran a benchmark at the same settings in 2014 with my 3930k at 4.2GHz and a GTX 780 Ti running at 876MHz. Here are those results.... Test 1 is the 3930k, Test 2 is the 7700k 3DMark Score 9 994 22 137 + 121.5 % Graphics Score 11 086 29 745 + 168.3 % Physics Score 15 432 15 636 + 1.3 % Combined Score 4 409 9 648 + 118.8 % Graphics Test 1 54.20 fps 143.33 fps + 164.5 % Graphics Test 2 43.40 fps 117.82 fps + 171.5 % Physics Test 48.99 fps 49.64 fps + 1.3 % Combined Test 20.51 fps 44.88 fps + 118.8 % Now we see some differences - unsurprisingly the 3930k 6 core CPU holds up really well still in the physics test, which I would expect. The overall CPU and GPU (and RAM etc) upgrade however has netted huge gains elsewhere. Really pleased with the results. How this will translate into improved flight sim performance however is not as clear from these tests - I'd be surprised if I'm not going to be pleased with the results once I get around to installing a sim again. I'll report back once I have done this but it'll be a few months yet. I'll also get around to boosting my GPU a bit but any gains now will be FPS chasing and minimal - the over clock of the 1080 Ti out of the box is already pretty incredible - it is a fantastic GPU. Good to hear any thoughts or comments. James
