  1. Hey Anders, I'm using the same FlightBeam visual pack with no problems - your error is to do with the original P3D shaders missing I think. I had it once before and just reinstalled them (in v4). When I updated to v4.1 I think the defaults were again reinstalled so I didn't receive this error using the new PTA version today. Have you opened PTA immediately after updating to v4.1?
  2. That's really odd - I'm pretty sure it automatically found my order as I really don't remember having to do anything to register it with SimTweaks. That said I don't remember having a SimTweaks account but today I had to reset my password as my email was registered - therefore I must have registered at some point and there is a chance I linked the SimMarket order to it? Perhaps Matt or someone else can clarify how it works...I honestly cannot remember!
  3. In SimMarket I only have v2.52 whereas through SimTweaks I have the new version 2.60. It looks like we don't have to wait for SimMarket to update as the order is linked to SimTweaks
  4. When I log in I see my order and when I click "view" on the right hand side it takes me to a page with the order information in SimTweaks - on the right of this page is a download link which is for 2.60. It also has my SimMarket PTA key and all info on this page. Can you access that page? If you have bought from SimMarket I think it automatically appears in SimTweaks - I don't remember having to register anything with SimTweaks...(that doesn't mean I didn't though...)
  5. No worries, I can confirm it is working really well. I have it all set up ok and I'm using the FlightBeam visuals pack which looks incredible (with the extra reshade bits and modded PTA preset from ThoPat). Thanks Matt for sorting this. James
  6. I bought from SimMarket but I set up an account on SimTweaks and when I log in there it shows the latest version 2.60 as available for download - have you tried that? If you bought from SimMarket it says so when you log in/register on SimTweaks. Hope that helps! James
  7. Thanks Ian for trying and confirming - that's exactly what happened to me. I'll wait to hear from Henrik or alternatively try to contact the AVSim library team - not sure how to though. James
  8. Hi guys, I have been trying to download the packages and I can get v2 no problems but v1 stops downloading almost immediately, after only a couple of MB. I have tried in different browsers and with/without download managers and anti virus but it keeps interrupting. V2 was fine and download the entire 200MB package fine. Is the link perhaps broken?
  9. Sure - www.p3dwiki.com Rob has an excellent range of settings for different circumstances on there which I have set up as profiles in SimStarterNG and tweaked for my own personal system. That said, I am using about 90% of what he outlines on there with really good results and switching between the settings depending on what I fly. Last night I flew the PMDG 777 using his Com City Day settings with a couple of sliders one step further to the right (traffic etc) and had a great flight from CYVR to KSFO over Orbx Regions using FSDT's CYVR and FlightBeams new KSFOHD2 - this was a notoriously difficult route for me on my old set up (not including the guaranteed OOM's I'd get) but last night I got smooth performance with beautiful scenery.
  10. A quick revisit as I'm finally all set up in Iceland after my move from Hong Kong. What changes there have been in that time! My system is absolutely loving P3D v4. Despite all these massive CPUs from AMD and Intel, single core performance seems to still be the most important thing with P3D and I'm having terrific results at 5.1Ghz with my 1080Ti. So nice to be flying again, not tweaking or worrying about OOMs. That's Max in particular previously for all the great advice, it was spot on!
  11. 7700k here running at 5.1GHz in P3D v4 with a GTX 1080 Ti and couldn't be happier. Performance is astonishing, even at high slider settings (I use Rob's P3Dwiki as a starting guideline) - even at lower FPS (below 30FPS) performance is smooth. I'm so glad I went for the 7700k over an AMD Ryzen with more cores. Single core performance is still king it seems and I've never had such good sim performance (not to mention more OOMs).
  12. Well it turns out that the answer to the original question I posted was much more general: It fixes everything and most add on developers were ready or able to update really quickly. All that worry we had about compatibility (especially with aircraft e.g PMDG) was unfounded. Almost all developers have released updates with no issues. I for one am finding the performance to be superb and I'm delighted with how the change to 64 bit has gone.
  13. A quick update on my bench marking. I have run tests at 5GHz initially, with no manual over clock on the GPU - just using it's standard boost (which goes to 1,946MHz). I have also finally had the chance to do some initial over clocking - I've set my CPU at 5.1GHz with Voltage at 1.375v. This ran stable for 30 mins on Realbench - I may drop the voltage a bit more. Temps maxed at 70c (it's hot here today too). Here are the Fire Strike Results I have run - Test 1 is 5GHz and Test 2 is 5.1GHz : 3DMark Score 21 847 22 137 + 1.3 % Graphics Score 29 415 29 745 + 1.1 % Physics Score 15 367 15 636 + 1.8 % Combined Score 9 512 9 648 + 1.4 % Graphics Test 1 142.48 fps 143.33 fps + 0.6 % Graphics Test 2 116.02 fps 117.82 fps + 1.6 % Physics Test 48.78 fps 49.64 fps + 1.8 % Combined Test 44.24 fps 44.88 fps + 1.4 % Pretty much what everyone has said - a minimal FPS increase from the 100MHz boost to the CPU. Interestingly my Time Spy were almost identical, within a much smaller margin of difference between them i.e. the 100MHz increase made no difference. Now for some more interesting results - comparing my old 3930k system with my new 7700k system - I ran a benchmark at the same settings in 2014 with my 3930k at 4.2GHz and a GTX 780 Ti running at 876MHz. Here are those results.... Test 1 is the 3930k, Test 2 is the 7700k 3DMark Score 9 994 22 137 + 121.5 % Graphics Score 11 086 29 745 + 168.3 % Physics Score 15 432 15 636 + 1.3 % Combined Score 4 409 9 648 + 118.8 % Graphics Test 1 54.20 fps 143.33 fps + 164.5 % Graphics Test 2 43.40 fps 117.82 fps + 171.5 % Physics Test 48.99 fps 49.64 fps + 1.3 % Combined Test 20.51 fps 44.88 fps + 118.8 % Now we see some differences - unsurprisingly the 3930k 6 core CPU holds up really well still in the physics test, which I would expect. The overall CPU and GPU (and RAM etc) upgrade however has netted huge gains elsewhere. Really pleased with the results. How this will translate into improved flight sim performance however is not as clear from these tests - I'd be surprised if I'm not going to be pleased with the results once I get around to installing a sim again. I'll report back once I have done this but it'll be a few months yet. I'll also get around to boosting my GPU a bit but any gains now will be FPS chasing and minimal - the over clock of the 1080 Ti out of the box is already pretty incredible - it is a fantastic GPU. Good to hear any thoughts or comments. James
  14. Don't worry too much - once you have an idea what the highest working number is for you, just add your vote :-) Albeit with only a few votes so far and this being a rough poll, about 50% of us can get to 5.0Ghz or above.
  15. Both good points - honestly, just wanted to get a very basic idea of what people are achieving - wasn't sure how to correlate between the clock speed and those who have delidded so separated the questions. I guess we will get a rough idea of what people are achieving clock speed wise AND what percentage of everyone has delidded their CPU. Not perfect but interesting to see.
  16. I guess just post the max your CPU runs at when at load, either through a bench mark (I personally used Realbench for 15 minutes) or when gaming/simming (my CPU pretty much stays at 5GHz) - it sounds like you have a potential 5.1GHz chip but then you say it crashes at 5GHz. This is just a rough poll just to see where people have been able to get there 7700k to so we have a rough idea of how good the chips people have are. It's not scientific by any means! Just a curiosity.
  17. Just a quick rough poll to see what results people are getting - we can have our own Flight Sim Silicon Lottery results to share to the community!
  18. I paid for $469 for it delidded and 5.1Ghz - I didn't see that as a dreadful premium and definitely cheaper than me attempting and failing at a delid myself. I'm very pleased with the results both performance and temperature wise. I am not sure about the percentage of chips that are able hit 5Ghz but I have built alongside a new friend of mine in the UK, exactly the same system, and he is having stability issues at 5Ghz. So between us it's a 50% hit rate ;-) With Martin it's 66% on here. Maybe we can do a quick poll?
  19. Hi Tim, I have just completed a similar build using the Corsair 740 Air - it's a bit different - less of a tower and more of a box if you like. I am finding it to be excellent for airflow with the H115i mounted on the front and the fans pulling air in and exhausting out of the top and back. It separates the motherboard from the HDD/SSD's and there's lots of room. Very pleased with it. I got my RAM from Amazon US shipped to me in Hong Kong - G.Skill 32GB 3200Mhz. It was much cheaper than here in Hong Kong for some reason. James
  20. Hi Alan, I have literally just finished building a computer using a Silicon Lottery 5.1Ghz CPU which I got them to delid also - I am running it at 5 right now but can confirm that I briefly bench marked it for a stable period at 5.1Ghz. When I have more time I am going to over clock my system more fully. I found the guys at Silicon Lottery to be very good - communicative, open and they've delivered what they sent - their forums also show many happy customers. I hadn't delidded anything myself before so I was not comfortable doing so. Temps after delidding at 5.1Ghz maxed out at 69c on the CPU so I'm looking forward to seeing what I can get out of it when I turn things up in the coming weeks. Hope that helps. James
  21. I definitely think my game results are very good. I'm also seeing a few of the Aorus 1080Ti reviews now saying it's perhaps the best of the bunch so far (price vs performance) so I'm chuffed with my "forced" choice there! As for installing FSX, I think I'll wait - my FSX days are over. I am increasingly interested in getting back into X Plane though. Version 11 looks good. I think a pretty clean version of that with just the VMax 757 will allow me some PMDG-esque flying whilst I wait. My limiting factor right now is my Hong Kong village internet connection though - 8Mb/s has meant Battlefield 1 took 2 days to download and I believe X Plane 11 is a similar size...all in all I'm going to wait for my move to Iceland when I'll a) have a 1Gb/s internet and b) the proper time to get all my equipment set up. In the mean time I'll be doing some good ol' fashioned PC Gaming!
  22. Hi Max, thanks - yes I was aware of that. It was just a good recommended stress tester that didn't unnecessarily over work the CPU. I have run some 3DMark bench marks but because the GPU is so new (TweakTown have literally just posted an un-boxing today) it isn't giving me the combined scores and/or letting me compare results. That said it seems to be doing well in all the tests! I still haven't got around to doing some over clocking testing on either the CPU and GPU yet - I haven't had any time. I did run a couple of tests in GTA V with settings pretty much maxed out on my 1440p monitor and frame rates were well above 60FPS and into the 90's sometimes. Also tried out Sniper Elite 4 with DX12 and frame rates on Ultra settings are well above 85 FPS and up to 140 FPS! I hear these games are pretty taxing on systems so I'm definitely getting good results at 5 Ghz CPU and standard Aorus boost settings on the GPU. Temps on the CPU remain low (max 63c today) and GPU max of 75c, max boost clock of around 1980 Mhz Looking forward to getting the flight sim set up but I'm still going to wait a bit - probably around June time if v4 P3D is out. May bung X Plane 11 on before that.

Any thoughts welcomed. Getting good results in 3D Mark despite my GPU not being recognised yet...
