FSX crashing with sqealing Sounds (BSOD)

Featured Replies

Dear Simmers :)For nearly a whole week I'm trying to fix the following problem:After approx. 5min flying a complex addon plane like Level D 767 (SP 2a) or CLS 757 I get a high-pitched multivoice squealing whine. It seems that slewing the plane or resetting the flight often triggers this crash but it also occured during some mins of flight. This high sounds do even change if I change the thrust or drop the gear for example. ( if sbd. wishes a video I will post it ;) )I also noticed that during the high sounds the physics of FSX seems to be corrupt..when I land, the plane tilts to the right like there was only the left gear extended (although both are down).Any interaction (dispite of joystick steering) like mouse or joystick clicks or even killing the process using the task manager locks up the sim, so that xp crashes with Bluescreen telling me MACHINE CHECK EXCEPTION.On the other hand I can start and use any other program which isnt related to FSX.All other programs and new games that are installed run without such problem, so I actually think that it's a specific FSX or FSX-Addon Bug.I read Microsofts advices and many many other boards and took the following measures without success: -> increased core voltage to 1.40v -> cleaned and reinstalled latest drivers for graphics and sound -> disabled daemon tools drive (not uninstalled) -> put off the IDE DVD Drive -> checked RAM with memtest -> checked system events -> put in new 550w power supply (see specs) -> checked all power cables inside the pc -> checked cpu, mainboard and gpu temperatures -> are ok (43

Adjusting hardware accelleration in dxdiag from max -> min apparently solved the problem...hope that performance wont suffer too much..

I had a similar problem where FS would making sqealing sound and freeze. I had to reboot my pc to get things back to normal. I pulled my hair out tyring to figure out what was causing to problem. After replcing all my hardware drivers, I finally uninstalled and reinstalled my Nvidia 8800GTX drivers. That solved my issues.Bill M

Only affects the sound, in fact, performance should improve if this was causing a problem. It's been well documented since the early days of FS that turning the hardware accel down is recommended if there are problems.
