MD-11 - Brakes behaviour

Featured Replies

Hello; My landscape Win XP SP3, FSX SP2 & FS 9.1, both MD11 FSX and FS9. In FSX : I'm starting from a cold and dark cockpit following step by step the check list. Everything works as well but once I'm starting engines, I've go a FADEC ALTN light each time I start the engine. I click on it and it's vanishing. This is not a big issue but .... I don't understand why, I have no brakes, neither park nor std brake using my joystick. Of course I went to the overhead for a short review : no light illuminated on HYD, AIR or ELEC panel pintpointing a misconfiguration of my overhead. Then .... if anyone has a good idea, I'm ready to test it. I'm not sure it"s a bug ... but it seems quite strange.I'll try to see whether I've the same behaviour with FS9 version.

Not much help I know but I also have had the same thing before on startup. All I can remember is it was a mistake on my part.... can't for the life of me remember what it was though.John Ellison

I answer myself as I think it could be very interesting for all the community. As I'm writing a detailed tutorial in French for the PMDG MD-11, I'm starting from a cold & dark cockpit. I spend hours & hours from the beginning and I saved my flight each time I stopped for not being obliged to redo from scratch. Unfortunately, I started it few time after the PMDG was delivered. In the meantime, PMDG service pack were released and I applied them. Unfortunately, some "bad information" remains somewhere in the panel state saved with the tutorial ... that cause this strange behaviour. How to fix it : in C:\Documents and Settings\...\Fichiers Flight Simulator X : erase all you old recorder filesin C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\PMDG\MD11\panelstate erase all your personal panelstate but do not erase the PMDG ones Once you relaunch your FS you'll loose all your saved flights but ... bug is fixed.Hope that will help you.

Are you enableing the aux-pump1, either from the hydralics overhead (tutorial page 15) or between the brake pressure gauage and the AutoBrake switch (tutorial page 18) ?

Paul Smith.

Jean-Michel,I don't see a relation between the original topic discription [brake behavior] and FADEC Lights being on.What I do know is a relation between the position of the 'overboost' bar and the FADEC lights. Most probably you saved a situation with the overboostbar out of its normal position.Regards,Harry
