MD 11 Tutorial Takeoff

Featured Replies

Hi AllI have been learning the tutorial mothodically and have the FMC set up as in the tutorial. My question is this, when I takeoff and engage the AP and Prof at the specified heights the airplane banks at 25 deg and pitches up to 25 deg to follow the way points. To me this is not correct it, is like a fighter jet. I have tried setting the bank angle, but at every way point it banks at 25 deg. Is this the correct performance.Another query I have is the configurator. The weights obtained when setting up for full pax mixed are drastically different from the tutorial. They are:-ZFW 195.041ZFWCG 23.1TOGW 271.36TOCG 25.1.These are the weights I have entered into the FMC, not the weights in the tutorial.I have the 1.2 version for FSX.Can any one advise me on the aboveThanksBill Dickson

I have not noticed the steep bank and climb angles that you mention. I have just checked my copy of the tutorial manual and that gives the passenger load out as 2/3Pax and not Full Pax as you say you are using. Also you have to click on the empty (white) boxes in the forward cargo hold so that all 6 boxes show green and reduce to full load to 30000kgs. When I did this just now I got exactly the same ZWF, ZWFCG TOGW & TOCG as shown in the manual.kind regardsGary Bezant

Thanks for the replies guysGary, My tutorial showes "Full Pax" indicated Nr 2 in the load manager diagram, and also in the text below it mentions "Full Pax"Markus,Thanks for the info. I was,nt sure if this bank and pitch degree was normal. Since my post I have found out if the plane is climbing faster than indicated on the speed tape, the nose is inclined to pitch up to slow it down. Thanks again.Off to practice more takeoffsBill Dickson

The pitch should be controlling speed, rate of climb is not an issue unless you don't have enough then pitching up will not help... it is all about speed on takeoff and initial climb.

Bill, are you sure you do have the latest version of the tutorial document? The loading had to be changed for an update there was earlier. So get the latest version from the download section of the PMDG website and you'll be fine.Regards,Markus
