Andrea the first question I have for you is have you started the flight simulator first? SerialFP2 sometimes wont connect to the panel if the simulator isn't running first.Also when you move the power switch on the MCP combo to the EXT position what is the text that is displayed in the left display.

HI Andy,this morning following your email I tryed again, using my laptop, so:connected the usb cable from the MCP to the usb port on the p.c., and MCP connected with the external power supply.Switched on the MCP to the EXT position, on the laptop screen: found new hardware... then... your hardware is ready to be used.At this point I started the FS2004 running first OK.Then I started the SerialFP2 - Set COMx manually.Under panel info: port:com3 type:n/a version:n/aon the select aircraft list: is empty no aircraft on the list.Rx:emptytx:emptyI tested also opening the SerialFP2 first then FS2004... the same situation reported before.Then I removed the usb cable disconnecting the MCP from the laptop, after few minutes I put back but the following message on the creen: "usb device not recognized"."one of the usb devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it".Maybe the driver is missing? Maybe I have the wrong driver?Could you pls send me the correct driver and-or the last version of the MCP combo drivers for the XP?Anyway connecting the MCP into the EXT position (through the external power supply) on the left display I have the following message:SerialFP v2.520 MCP-Combi SN:_VRi_no more indicationsI tryed also with the manual hardware installation:Add Hardware wizard --> yes already connected the HW --> under installed HW:USB device ?!Unknown ?!... completing the Add hardware wizard: the drivers for this device are not installed (code 28)I tryed also the manual installation using the MCP dvd installation:location F:\ (DVD of VRinsight)under VRi_090203\serialfp\drivers\CDM 2.04.14\i386....... the answer is: no drivers found...It's very strange but maybe >I have not the proper drivers.... I download also the program 22 Mb from the main web site but nothing to do.... do you have some idea about that?It's seems a driver problem..... can you send me your drivers?Or give me some indications where to find it.....What do you think?Thank you very muchciaoAndrea

It does sound very unusual indeed, you should not have to assign a Com port in SerialFP2 this should happen automatically if everything is working correctly, I also don't understand how the M-panel can work fine for you but not the MCP combo, they both use the same software and as far as I understand.What Anti virus security software do you have on your PC?You say you are using Windows XP, does this include service pack 3 for XP? if you do have service pack 3 for XP I seem to remember they upgrade the security features in it similar to Vista, could you try right clicking on the short cut to SerialFP2 and select the option "run as administrator" if that option is available and let me know if that helps.I'm using windows Vista on my system so figuring out what is going on is going to be a little harder for me to figure out, Tech support at VRinsight is probably going to be able to help you better than I can, but I will carry on trying to help you over the weekend until support return to work on Monday. Ciao Andy,tnks for your help. I know you are not wrkg for the VR... I know u try to do the best...Also me I cannot understand why this is happening, anyway I confirm, my M-Panel is working fine but no way with the MCP, for this reason I think there is hardware problem inside the MCP... or maybe something wrong about the driver, but I have already discahrged and tested the last drivers from the main VR web site...Also with these drivers nothing to do, I have windows XP service pack 2 and the free version of the AVG antivirus installed... so tomorrow I will try to stop the antivirus service and check again... but I hope to receive soon some help from the VR...Maybe some other simmer had the same problem.... Andrea you will be better asking the question over at the VRinsight forums as there will of course be more customers there likely to read your plea. It's not a problem I have seen mentioned before on the VRinsight forum especially not with XP anyway, Vista can cause problems but that usually means none of the hardware will work until you run SerialFP2 with full administration rights. Yes it probably would be worthwhile disabling AVG completely by de-installing it completely while testing with a reinstall of the VRinsight software, good luck and sorry I've not been able to find the solution yet.

Hi Andy,sent two times mail to the VRinsight technical support, but until now, no answer received.Do you have the possibility to infom somebody about my problem?Anyway in the next hours I will post my message on the VR forum.This morning I done the following test:disinstalled the AVG free antivirus from all p.c.Removed the serialFP2 program.P.c. restarted. MCP combo connected to the USB port, EXT power on, my p.c. detected the new usb device and give me the "usb installed and ready to be used".So I installed the serialFP2 program, automatically assigned the com3, FS2004 run first... then I opened the serialFP program, selected the free MSFS aircraft, on the MCP display I had the HDG SPD etc... so until now very good, but few minutes later, the yellow and green leds began ON... with the "usb device not recognized" on the computer screen, and the "serialFP2" program all empty no info inside... so the system stopped to work. I am afraid it's a technical problem due to the hardware malfunction, because I have the same situation with the second p.c.Maybe a USB cable problem (some wire false contact) and-or a problem coming out when the MCP device getting a temperature, stop to work.How is the best way to talk with the VR custom service and or technical service? I have sent a couple of emails to Steve at VRinsight myself over the weekend regarding other matters and I have yet to receive a reply, all I can think of is that they are away on business at the moment as it is very unusual not to receive a reply from them within 48 hours of the new working week starting. You will not get a reply at the weekend though as nobody is in the office then. Please give them a little more time to reply.

I hope to solve the problem and have back the MCP in few days or weeks.At the moment I'm working with the M-Panel that seems to work fine... but I have a little problem, I think I'm getting error with the ILS approach procedure...I'm still using the default B737-400 on the FS2004...i.e. approaching to LIPQ (italy - trieste) from southwest with heading 060

Hello Andrea, I'm well I hope you are too,Question number 1, this is something that has never happened to me but I have heard of one other person who has seen this once in a while, I cant explain it and other than closing down SerialFP2 and starting it again I'm not sure what to suggest. Does the problem go away after closing SerialFP2 and restarting it?This next question I'm not 100% sure what you are asking but I'll give the answer I think you want. AP FD AT are switched on and off with the 4 way selector in the AP/M position, HDG SPD ALT are switched on and off with the 4 way selector in the AP/C position. To enable an ALTitude hold mode you first have to move the 4 way selector knob to AP/C, then press the DME/ALT button (ALT will have a small square next to it now) next press in the black dial to switch on ALTitude Hold mode, and press the white button below the dial to switch it off again. Follow the same procedure for HDG and SPD mode.I hope that answers your questions ok.
