June 17, 200916 yr Every time I create a flight originating from my usual departure airport - Raleigh/Durham, FS9 sets the active runway to the same runway - 5 Left - every time. Actually I think the prevailing winds cause more takeoffs and landings to be occur from the other direction - 23 Right (same pavement, different direction) so I'd like to change which rwy is assigned active. Also, one of my usual destination airports has the same "problem." Rwy 9 is always active, never Rwy 27.Is there a config file that enables me to change the default active runways for both airports? Or can I only do that by going into custom weather and specifying a different wind direction at both airports before starting a flight? Is that the only way to get FS9 to select a different runway as active based on that? I'm not sure how to change wind direction at the destination airport. Thanks, BZerk
June 17, 200916 yr Runways in FS9, as in real life, are determined by wind direction. (You seem to have figured that out) Now you'll either have to set "real world weather" by download or set the weather manually, as you figured. On a side note, I fly into there all the time and have gotten 5 (now 5R) all but one time. Also, look into the custom weather settings, it's very simple to set weather differently at different airports. Also, I guess you could use an Afcad editor, but I really don't recommend that at all. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
June 17, 200916 yr I would check or change the weather. I had this at RJCC and RJAA for the longest time, but have recently switched over to ActiveSky's weather. After the switch I see more variation in the active runways. Derek RogersPC Specs: Intel i7-4790K 4.6GHz : 16GB RAM : GTX 970 4GB

Afcad is an excellent tool for this type of stuff.I don't know the prevailing winds or procedures at KRDU so I can't say anything about the runway usage. However, if the wind is calm at the airport, FS might not care about the winds on your initial departure and and final approach. In the OPs case, if I wasn't satisfied, I would close the 05s for landing and take-offs, that way only the 23s will be in use. Same with closing both ends for takeoff...In calm situations, there is an order of "preference" for runways which is in the AFCAD file (under lists) - you can change which one is default there...
