FPS Limiter oddity

Featured Replies

HiI use 2 monitors and, as advised here, I have set the FPS Limiter frame rate at 2x that required - so 60 to get 30 fps.But it seemed to work intermittently - some times ok and sometimes starting at 15 fps i.e. half the default 30 fps. Even if I have set 50 or 70 fps as the (2x) target it is still 15 fps.I've experimented and, from a fresh windows boot, it does the 15 fps trick which is annoying. But if I close FSX and run FPS limiter again it works ok.Any ideas as to why this is?CheersChrisE6600, 8800 GTS - latest drivers, Vista 32bit

make sure you have set unlimited fps in FSX menu.other than that, i suspect your system is not able to match the limit you have set.

Hi, yes I have got set FSX at Unlimited fps but I've discovered another clue - If I have it running ok after a 2nd restart as described above, then shut FSX down and run Ken Salter's Alacrity to remove background ops, it does it again - back to 15 fps. But, of course, yet another restart of FPS Limiter makes it work again.I know what to do now but just wondered if there was an obvious reason for this odd behaviour...CheersChris

Several things - using a progrsam like Alacrity may remove a process that Limiter needs. The Limiter MUST be run last. Also, it's not just the monitors, it's the number of windows open. For example - I have two monitors also and set the Limiter at 60. If I run FSX and put nothing on monitor2, I get 60. If I open the GPS window and put it on #2, I get 30. If I then open the radio stack and put it on #2, I get 15. See the relationship?HTH,Vic
