Static Nose Wheels SUCK!

Featured Replies

HiOkay i use the following addons and i really hate STATIC NOSE WHEELSOverland AirlinersAirbus CollectionLevel D 767ERDC10 Collection727 ProAll of these listed have static nose wheels UNLIKE PMDG/Project Airbus/Concorde Pro where when you turn your plane the nose wheel turns with what ever movement you make! Why is this and can it be altered?I mean i have played around with the Autorudder option to see if this makes a difference but nothing changed, i then received an entry by someone to add onto the CFG of every aircraft but then i lost handling once i became airbourne as the entrie freed up the tail movement and wheel movement syncing them together while flying, making it very hard to fly.Any suggestions as to what i can do?I use a joystick and the keyboard...but but manually adjusting the rudder in order for the wheel to work seems soooo long, why cant the setup be just like PMDG etc?!

Seems like a real "nit-pick" to me. :( I could surely think of better things to complain about. When you turn the tiller on any of the above mentioned airliners in real life, rather your sitting still or moving, the nose wheel will turn however much you commanded it to (up until speed lock out). Anyway, it's not a "problem" as much as just the way the model behaves. On another note. When the Level-D 767 is sitting still on the ramp and I push the pedals either way, I like that the nose wheel stays put. It looks like a proper control check. (Considering rudder and nose wheel steering are separate controls) Just my $.02

I think what Zach is trying to say is that you must be MOVING (forward), 2 Kts+, in order for wheel ANIMATION to take effect. If you are using the joy twist or keyboard, you still have to be moving in order to 'see' the wheel 'turn'. It won't do anything if you are dead still. For ease of turning, with either joy co-ordination ON or OFF, put line in aircraft cfg under (brakes) section of: 'differential_braking_scale = 1.0'. Then by using brakes (trigger on joy is 'ok') and turning (twist) you can negotiate taxi turns with increased 'effectiveness' (with ONE HAND-ha). This is 'old hat'.While in the air, with auto coordination 'checked' (ON), you just simply bank the a/c with aerlions for 'co-ordinated' turns. With auto coordination 'un-checked' (OFF) you can use twist (rudder) to center the bubble, or make sharper and more level turns. This is how I do it. On approach, ESPECIALLY when making cross wind landings so as to 'crab' in, you need to have auto rudder OFF, to even do the crab. Trouble is, when your AUTO PILOT has to make a sharp bank when on an ILS approach, with auto rudder OFF it may prove difficult, and be hard (or impossible) for the AP to perform that bank, so you just go check auto coordination (turn it ON) BEFORE you invoke APPROACH on ILS landing. Details, details.Chuck BNapamule

I JUST tested the LVD and the DF727 in FS9 and they both work as they should. The nose wheel moves with my rudder inputs while on the ground and is static in the air, the way it should be.Something up on your end? :(EDIT:(ChuckB posted at the same time as me and explains it all)

Of course im moving (taxiing) when im on the ground, thats the point im making, the joystick i have isnt a twist one tho,The point i was making was under the PMDG & IFDG or Project Airbus addons, all of them have a moving nose wheel when you taxi on the ground turning etc and you dont have to bother with the tail rudder in order for the wheel to move, now it seems LVLD 767, Airbus Collection & Overland & JF727 Pro all have the nose wheel movement synced with the tail rudder which is difficult to straighten up again once moved, This is simply a question asking if there are ways of adjusting the setup so the nose wheel works the way PMDG and the few others have it setup

Brad,Then your 'problem' is not having a 'twist (ie: rudder) grip' joystick. That simple. Not certain if you use keypad to turn, using '0' and 'Enter' keys (which ACTUALLY are RUDDER TRIM and not RUDDER) that you won't have this 'problem' you're having. I occasionally use rudder trim, but only when I am up in the air flying. Never need to use while on ground, as I have a twist (rudder) grip joystick. And do add the 'differential' baking line-it helps a lot, if you can do that. What this line does is allow you to brake left wheels (or, right) while letting the right (or, left) 'free wheel'. It will 'pivot' on braked wheels, in other words. It is, therfore, an 'assist' for nose wheel? Most definetly. Get a grip (stick, that is, hehe).Chuck BNapamule
