June 28, 200916 yr Hi All, I've been doing this for sometime time but don't really know why !!!so, can someone please explain.I've read on various tutorials that before starting a flight using the sophisticated PMDG 744 it's advisable to launch FS using the default Cesna, then, exit the flight and thenre-start by select the PMDG 744 at the location of my choice.Any body know why that is ????RegardsTrev
June 28, 200916 yr I use the cessna with the avionics switch turned on as my default saved situation. Works great for me.
July 5, 200916 yr its a shame no one would answer this question. ive been wondering the same thing myself. was also wondering if this was needed for saved flights as well. steve bowen
July 5, 200916 yr its a shame no one would answer this question. ive been wondering the same thing myself. was also wondering if this was needed for saved flights as well.Hi Steve, as much as I can recall, this is done in order to allow the complex gauges and Operating Systems, modelled in complicated products such as PMDGs, to load "clean" and without "interference" from other addons. I rarely use this method with PMDGs products because their work, their models, gauges and systems design are of such exceptional fidelity, that if you start up the sim and load one of their products, say for instance in a 'tutorial flight', it will initialize and load without a hitch. If, one the other hand, you have the sim running with another designers complex addon and then decide to switch 'crafts' and load a PMDG model, then you would be asking for trouble, trouble with an upper case T !!! Microsofts default aircrafts are very simplistic in design and has no real systems modelling and as such, switching from their default craft, preferably the Cessna C172, poses no problemas!! There are other intricte issues to do with memory allocations and residual memory in the PC's Operating System that come into consideration, when using one complex addon immediately follwed by another. Some of the more experienced flightsimmers and computer "gurus" in this great forum, can give you more details. I have certainly learnt a lot from these guys, such as Dan Downs, Robert, Markus et al.Hope this was not too "long winded" :( and that it did help you Steve. :( Best Regards,Godfrey G
July 6, 200916 yr Commercial Member I've always just used the "Create a Flight" ("Free Flight" in FSX) screen to load our planes, never had an issue doing it that way. Basically, you don't want to just go switching between a bunch of complex addons within the same FS session. If I want to switch between say our MD-11 and the LDS 767 or something like that, I'll close down FS and relaunch it to make sure everything is clean. If you switch between different complex addons, you're going to see weirdness, it's just how FS works. Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
