  1. Thanks for the post guys, I use windows 7x64. I know little about panels and gauges but feel pretty strongly this is a cfg. file problem.
  2. After installing the Ernie Alston ISG GNS-XLS FMS, there been a problem with the IVSI. When opening Dreamfleet 727, FS9 shows a pop up saying that ILH_TCAS was unable to load. I love this setup and Ernie's FMS works great, but no IVSI nor traffic information will display, just a blank screen. I don't think it's an ISG GNS problem but instead the retrofit put out by Meatwater. I didn't install Meatwater's panel retrofits in the DF727 as I'd like to have some 727's with no GPS. Those variants without Meatwater's retrofits all have an IVSI and display traffic info. My apologies for posting this if I'm posting this on the wrong site but can't get answers on the other forums. I've searched the sim sites and googled with no luck. If anyone has any suggestions or knowledge how to go about correcting this, I'd be very grateful. FWIW, I don't need the TCAS, I can live without it. I feel having a VSI or IVSI is a must. Thanks in advance, Steve
  3. ************** update ************* Something must have changed the default settings during the FS9 reinstall. I changed a few options and all is good now Steve
  4. After doing a fs9 uninstall/reinstall yesterday, the DF 727 was reloaded and ended up getting this. The MS default airplanes look good as well as the DF 2d cockpit. The generators, battery and light switches are all on. I've looked through a couple of forums and can't find a post with a similar problem. Any suggestions? Thank you for any help, Steve
  5. Mikethe6th, Did you get your question answered? I came here to this formum to ask the same questions you had. It's tuff knowing where to begin with so many options out there. Is it correct that vatsim doesn't work with fs9?
  6. I'm not sure if this addresses your question jacrabit. In the -400 you can manually tune the frequncies for an ILS but as bank angle said, this cant be accomplished on the communication's console. When manualy tuning an ILS freq. in the NAV/RAD page you will also need to input the inbound course as well as the frequency. You should then see the letter 'M' next to your freq indicating this was MANUALLY set. Hope that answers your question.
  7. I just reinstalled the fs9 747 on my old lap top and new install on my new desk top and everything appears to have installed fine. Just after the reinstall completed, There was a pop-up dialog box on the desktop that said It is highly advisable to install the latest service packs for this product. The 747 seems to be running well with no obvious issues. I always assumed that PMDG sent new downloads with the lates updates. I didnt get any pop-up box on my laptop. Does anyone have any insight as to what this dialog box may mean? I have an old version of fs9, not sure if that could be what caused the pop-up. Thanks in advanced for any help, steve bowen
  8. Thanks guys. How do you possibly learn this stuff? I sure am gratefull for all your knowledge
  9. OK buddy, let me get the shovel & bucket back out, thanks again for your help
  10. Thank you January, after looking high & low, I dont see a panel config file in fs9.
  11. I had to google native resolution. I see that for my computer that 1280 x 800 is supposed to work best. I changed this setting on the flight sim option's tab but there wasn't a noticable difference. The virtual cockpit I see now does help a lot, though it's not my favorite way to play the sim. Thanks guys for taking the time to get back to me.
  12. I just bought a new computer that runs windows 7 64 bit with a widescreen monitor. With this widescreen, my view from inside the cockpit is now more limited. The peripheral view seems the same but vertically is a problem. All the scenery seems stretched horizontaly while limiting my view vertically. I've tried full screen mode and that seems to work a little better. I was hoping there'd be another option available to take advantage of the wider screen. Thanks in advance for any help. Steve Bowen
  13. whats confusing to me is your screen shot. why arent you getting any raw data displays in the ctr mode, ie. vor needles? did you try tuning and identifying your vors to see if you get a morse code ident? looks to me like you have eveything correct. it almost seems like youre out of range of the service volume. if you go to map mode, do you see a green dashed line across your nd depicting your course?
  14. that makes sense speedbird, at about 200 miles out you can begin receiving atis at which time you'll know what runway and arrival is in use. it does little good if you select a star or transition before you know which runway you'll be assigned. choosing an arrival before you know your runway could be a waste of time. that's for real world, in the sim world i dont think it makes any difference
