June 29, 200916 yr Hello everyone, I decided to move on to FSX couple of days ago, and I am surprised at the way its performing. I was on FS2004 before, and I could run everything max at 60FPS without a single frame rate hit. Now I find myself getting 15 - 20 FPS in FSX with moderate settings? I would appreciate it if anyone who has a similar rig to mine could post their FSX.cfg file and any tweaks they used to get more frame rate for this. I also plan on buying the Ground Environment X addon. Will this cause me to lose more FPS? Thank you for reading everyone :)

For instance the lowest autogen setting in FSX is higher than the highest autogen setting in FS2004. Resolution of groundtextures is based on 1 m/pixel in FSX instead of 5 m/pixel in FS2004. Etc. etc. It's quite logical FSX is more demanding on the system. And even if it's not logical: this has been something that has been talked about for ages (well, ever since FSX was released) so unless you haven't visited ANY FS forum the last few years, you should have known this. :( 2. Here is a guide you can use for starters. It's not the Bible and I wouldn't follow up everything that's said, but you can use it to get some more out of FSX:http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=29041

I run minewith stock cooling at 3.2GHz.Secondly, try to run first with freeway traffic disabled and autogen dialed back a bit.Lastly, try the fps limiter application. If you run FSX with the fps limiter set at 24and the FSX options set to unlimited fps, you'll get better overall performancewhile stressing your CPU less. June 29, 200916 yr Some settings are very system-specific, in that you might get better results with a certain switch on, whereas someone with a nearly identical computer might see a benefit to having a certain switch off. These are the usual suspects:DX10 Mode vs DX9 (probably better in DX9)Fullscreen vs Windowed mode (I do better in Windowed, many others do better in Fullscreen)Bloom On vs OffAdjust the water slider. You will probably get the best performance and visuals with the High 1X setting, as any of the 2X settings require a lot more graphics processing. Keep the traffic settings on the low to medium side. Too many airport vehicles can really slow your system down. Realistic air traffic settings for default AI aircraft should be no more than 60%. June 30, 200916 yr I found these settings draw the most FPS:- light bloom- autogen- AI traffic- water effects slider at maximum; just one notch lower and a lot of FPS are back- detailed clouds and cloud drawing distance- FPS hungry planeMaybe as an addition, the detail of scenery slider. So, if you set all these to lowest possible values, chances are you get decent performance (provided your hardware isn't too old). Then, you can play with increasing one setting after another and look how far you can get. With my 3 GHz Core2 and a (simple) NVidia 9250 GTS (tried with an ATI 4870 without noticable difference) I get perfect FPS with Aerosoft London X when I set AI to 0% and water one notch lower than 2x max and disable autogen (though this doesn't have that much of a negative effect).Andreas Andreas, LOWW - Nihil sumus et fuimus mortales.
