July 3, 200916 yr Dear All,Just wanted some factual advice... Going to build an I7 D0 and overclock to 4ghz+ and wanted to know what you guys out there have found to work best from a GPU perspective - seem's to be differing opinions... Appreciate FSX is CPU bound but if I'm overclocking it to the max does the GPU need to be any better than an 8800gts which seems to be the defacto max required generaly for FSX.. Happy to here advice on this....thanks!
July 3, 200916 yr You don't need a 295 and you wouldn't want a 275 so that leaves you with the 285 : ) A great card
July 3, 200916 yr Hi,I agree, as of today the 285 is in IMHO the best card for Flight Simulation. Former Beta Tester - (for a few companies) - As well as provide Regional Voice Set Recordings Two: AMD-9950X | One: AMD-7950X3D | Three: Asus TUF 4090s | Three: 64GB DDR5 RAM 6000mhz | Three: Cosair 1300 P/S | Three: 990Pro 2TB NVME One: Eugenius ECS2512 - 2.5 GHz Switch | Three: Ice Giant Elite CPU Coolers | Three: 75" 4K UHDTVs | One: Boeing 737NG Flight Deck
July 3, 200916 yr Yeah you want a good GPU match for that overclock, like the GTX285Also don't forget a good cooler such ashttp://www.crazypc.com/products/PX50983.html | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
July 5, 200916 yr thanks! From what you are saying - the other cards don't cut it at that CPU clock spped?
July 5, 200916 yr Not really, the GTX295 is pretty much two cards in SLI configuration. And FSX doesnt like SLI in general. The 275 is a good card, but for FSX since you will clock that CPU to over 4+ you want to get the fastest GPU to go with your CPU, or should I say the fastest single GPU today. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
