Hi,does anyone know why Indian Airlines have the extra wheels on the undercarriage bogie???http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:IAA320.jpgThanksJPFLIGHT
Because they use some runways of poor quality, it was suggested by Airbus.RegardsRob

They distribute the weight better across a larger area, which means they can use the shoulder areas of less well developed airports without damaging the taxiways. It's the same reason why the 747 had more wheels than the 707; despite being bigger and heavier, it gave the bigger Boeing a similar average footprint to the smaller 707.Al
