July 5, 200916 yr Commercial Member Hi, I have ASA ( as well as REX ) I have a problem with the visibilty and haze. For example, just now, i used real world weather for a flight from KLSC, Utah. The map showed cloud over the area, but not too much, and the first layer at 11,000 ft, (stratus). I have ticked all 3 boxes in the visibilty options screen, Ie, disable haze, smoothing and fog option. This is what i got however: Which, I am sure you agree, looks pretty crap. One of my main reasons for getting ASA was I heard you get rid of the annoying haze effect in FSX. I am very keen to have some kind of realistic visibility restriction, but do not want some kind of blanket haze over everything you look at, including the foreground. This just makes all the scenery and textures look washed out and completely unrealistic. I hought there was some kind of transparency installed ( referred to in the FAQ) that got around this? I have looked but can see no option anywhere that mentions this. Is there any way to have realsitic visibility, without the blanket whiteout? So colors etc stay sharp until further away? Also, just one quick question, what is the proper sequence of events to start and use ASA & FSX. I do this:Start ASAchoose my area to correspond to my take off airportPress the start FSX buttonChoose my plane and set the airport. ( weather usually shows as the default, which is "cold fronts", not user defined)Press fly nowI get the green bar, and the flight startsThanks for the advice, Mark
July 6, 200916 yr Hi,Did you click on the Save and Apply icon?It could be also that you are over writing the clear texture from ASA with REX.I believe it is the cirrus texture you don't want to install with REX.Thanks,
July 6, 200916 yr Author Commercial Member Hi Jim, thx, I did click save and apply. will try removing that and trying again. 2 questions, how do I remove the already installed snapshot textures from ASA. And out of curiousity, why are cirrus textures covering the ground? Surely they would be up at 15,000 feet plus? Also, how / when is the transparency texture installed with ASA. Does thi smean I cannot have any REX cirrus in FSX at all? Does ASA install a complete replacement? sorry for all the questions, its just I like to have the full picture, cheers,Mark
July 6, 200916 yr Choose my plane and set the airport. ( weather usually shows as the default, which is "cold fronts", not user defined)I thought that if you had ASv6/ASX/ASA installed, the weather was supposed to say "User Defined" on FSX's startup screen. ??Isn't this true? The only time I've ever seen it say otherwise, was when ASA and FSX were not communicating properly. July 7, 200916 yr Hi,To remove a Snapshot in ASA go to the Graphics screen, highlight the snapshot you want to delete and click on the Delete Selected Icon. No, the cirrus OVC texture is used for haze. With ASA and FSX running is weather in FSX set to User Defined? Thanks,
July 7, 200916 yr Author Commercial Member If I start FSX using the button in the ASA GUI, it starts FSX on my default flight with cold fronts selected, my weather choice on the default flight. I then manually changed it to user defined. I presume I am not supposed to touch anything in FSX weather, ASA does it all?

You should be seeing "User Defined" right away, without you having to do anything.Let's see what Jim S. says but that's my 2 cents on it. July 8, 200916 yr Author Commercial Member Hi, no, its cold fronts when FSX loads. But if I click fly now, I get the green stripe saying weather is loading etc and I get the weather I am supposed to... it seems to working ok, just the haze. Is my sequence correct? ASA, choose weather, start FSX ? cheers, Mark
July 9, 200916 yr Hi,Your sequence is fine, but I don't think ASA and FSX are communicating properly. Please post your ASA_Log.txt file. Thanks,
July 9, 200916 yr Author Commercial Member Hi Jim, thx, I will have to wait a few days as I am just in the middle of a re install, got some new drives, so will report back when all ready again, cheers,Mark
