July 7, 200916 yr I am a little confused, are these the same or a different program completely????? If the same, are there reasons to buy one over the other? I am putting together a new load of FSX on a new drive, (have a FS9 with all the eye-candy), so trying to figure out which basic programs to start with.......a good weather, traffic, terrain, and a couple of small jets...........appreciate suggestions from those who have used them all....thanks, B42L8Hi there. I was in a similar position.I have UTX Europe and it's a brilliant product. It's amazing how accurate the roads and coastlines are now. I've also got the European GEX on order, but it's not out yet.I'm also considering FEX to update my sky and water textures. REX doesn't work on non-deluxe FSX apparently..For a weather engine it'll probably be ASA, as I was very happy with AS9 when I had FS2009And yes, I think a FS idiots guide to all these effing acronyms is well overdue...TTFN!!:(
July 7, 200916 yr Come on! The mystical jargon is half the fun! :-)Seriously, a layer-by-layer guide to what's what and which programs work on it would be useful. I've seen similar explanations, but not with a comprehensive treatment of add-ons. (E.g. start with your mesh, it does whatever, and these are the products that enhance it; next is your land class, which does so-and-so, and x,y, & z will make it look better by such-and-such.) This thread was pretty darned useful to me, though. All I can say is that the world has never looked better than REX'd, GEX'd and UTX'd.
