July 16, 200916 yr I have FSX and ASA installed on separate computers connected in a network. Do I need WIDEFS7 to make this work?If not how to solve this problem? On launching ASA I get an error message sayingsimconnect client SP2 not foundA valid simconnect managed version was not found to be correctly installed on this systemThe FSX system is a Win 7 computer and the ASA is on a Win XP system. In the FSX machine I have acceleration pack and thus SP2. I also have the SDK installed and I see that MS simconnect client is installed under change/remove program list.
July 17, 200916 yr Hi,No, we are using SimConnect. There is a whole chapter on setting up ASA to use over a network. There are too many steps for me to list them here, but just from your post, you need some SDKs installed on the client, some folders need to be shared on the server, and some files need to be set up on both the server and the client. For now I can suggest looking at that chapter in the manual and following that step by step. Then if you have specific questions, come on back here and we will be glad to help. Thanks,

In step 5 I did get a connected message. Still when I launch ASA I get the error messageSimconnect client SP2 not foundalso my weather in FSX is not updated by ASA so ASA does not work as intended. I loaded a flightplan in ASA.but in the log in ASA gui I see messages likesimconnect found and initialisedsimconnect SP2 instantiated
July 19, 200916 yr Hi,What happens when you run the AI Traffic utility on the client with FSX running on the server? Thanks,
July 19, 200916 yr Author Hi,What happens when you run the AI Traffic utility on the client with FSX running on the server? Thanks,First a console window opens with the path to AI traffic.exe in the title bar. After about 15-20 seconds the message,Connected to flight simulator!is printed in the console window. But I found that this also happens if I start AI traffic.exe without FSX running on my server computer.
July 20, 200916 yr Author Hi,Is FSX also installed on the client? Thanks,Answer NO only on the server computer.
July 20, 200916 yr Hi,When you run the AI Traffic utility on the client and FSX on the server, does the utility start to show the AI traffic additions and subtractions or does it just sit there saying FSX connected? Thanks,

July 21, 200916 yr No, we are using SimConnect.I really wish you some day would configure ASA with FSX fsuipc & widefs, because simconnect has never worked for me. Rune B.
July 22, 200916 yr Author Hi,And yet you don't get any other messages in the traffic window? No right now I'm running FSX with 100% traffic and the AI traffic utility and see only the message about connected to flight simulator.Same result some of the other utilities.
July 22, 200916 yr Hi,Then your network is not set up correctly. I suggest following the ASA Networking Chapter step by step again and see what you find. Thanks,
