July 21, 200916 yr Has anyone figured out how to successfully use Pete Dowson's GFDisplay.exe file with the PMDG series and the GoFlight MCP Pro and (maybe even) the Radio Modules? Would you be willing to share your edited .ini file with me? I recently bought the PMDG aircraft and am busy learning how to fly those beasts, and have discovered the GoFlight interface software is basically for use with default configured aircraft. I haven't been able to find one online at FlightSim or any where else so far.I'm trying to wade through the Pete's extensive yet verbose documentation, but his aversion to straight forward, step by step instructions is difficult to follow for a non-linear thinking marketing type like myself :( and that's my fault, not Pete's!. The GoFlight documentation isn't much help either. (I AM trying!)I'll post over at GoFlight and Pete Dowson's forum too, but I thought you guys here would be my best resource.I would forever be in your debt. Thank you all! Smooth Skies! -- Chuck B. Thank you all!HelloGFDisplay is used to drive the segmented displays and led's only, and is not the easiest software to get your head around. What you need at a basic level is to use keymapping, see this document, in it are all of the key commands for the PMDG 737.http://www.goflightinc.com/downloads/docs/NOTVAM2.pdfNow you can either use the registered Fsuipc to program your Goflight buttons and rotaries to issue these key presses and mouse button macros.Or you can use the GFKeys software (available from the Goflight D/L pageYou will be able to fully program your Goflight hardware in this way but the displays will be out of sync with the PMDG 737displays ( I just turned them off in GFConfig).Or finally you can admit defeat (what I did in the end ) and learn to love the LevelD 767 and Wilco PIC 737both of which work fully with your Goflight hardware straight out of the box
July 21, 200916 yr Author Thanks, Mad dog. My first problem is that my payware version FSUIPC is not recognizing my GoFlight hardware as "joysticks" so when I press any of the buttons or turn any dials on the MCP it's not even giving me the option to map it's keys. I thought GFDisplay would solve that . . . perhaps not. I have all of my GoFlight hardware on a powered USB hub, which I suspect is also confusing FSUIPC, although theoretically it shouldn't.Thanks in advance for any further guidance . . .PS: I already own the Wilco, but you just made a sale for Level-D -- I've been looking at it and based on your recommendation and experience I will get that! Unfortunately, 80% of my VA schedule is in the 737-600 - 800 models, so I'm kind of stuck. Smooth Skies! -- Chuck B. July 21, 200916 yr HelloDrop a copy of the dll's that are in the Goflight directory into the /modules folder where Fsuipc livesFsuipc should be seeing your Goflight modules fine, when you are in Fsuipc's buttons screen do you see any reactionfrom Fsuipc when you turn a rotary or press a switch?.Good choice on the LevelD 767, when you get it be sure to register at the forumhttp://www.leveldsim.com/sevensix_home.asp.And be sure to pick up Awf's VC texture mod from the member downloads page.
July 21, 200916 yr Author HelloDrop a copy of the dll's that are in the Goflight directory into the /modules folder where Fsuipc livesI'll try that when I get home tonight -- great idea, mad dog!Fsuipc should be seeing your Goflight modules fine, when you are in Fsuipc's buttons screen do you see any reaction from Fsuipc when you turn a rotary or press a switch?.Not a thing, that's why I thought the USB hub might be interfering. But everything is brand new and FSUIPC doesn't even see any of them when I plug them directly in the back of the computer. It sees my CH yoke and throttles fine, as well as my Saitek pedals fine. :( Good choice on the LevelD 767, when you get it be sure to register at the forumhttp://www.leveldsim.com/sevensix_home.asp.And be sure to pick up Awf's VC texture mod from the member downloads page.I've been looking at it for a while but I thought I'd learn the PMDG FMC first -- lots of documentation on that one. And I needed justification for another purchase -- been spending money hand over fist on FS addons lately! Smooth Skies! -- Chuck B.
