July 25, 200916 yr Hi all, I found an error with qnh reports causing troubles to surrounding interpolated stations. Looking inside the "current wx snapshot" file, it seems there are 3 stations which report qnh as Q.XXXX (I tried several wx intervals); that dot after the Q causes ASA to read the qnh as 00.00, so all the surrounding interpolated stations have values of QNH like 750 mb!! Even less sometimes. I managed to delete these stations from the database and ASA works now correctly. These stations are: OPNH, WIOO and VYMD. The last one seems not to make troubles though, so I left it unchanged. It took me 2 hours to understand what was wrong, but I did it :) I was flying at FL350, when the altimeter started changing rapidly, up and down of 2000 feet. I went looking and saw this strange value...by the way, I tried using the edit station data, but unsuccesfully, I can't understand how it works, I followed the steps in the manual (flag disabled, save edit, create file, reload) but nothing changed. I used brutal force, deleting the lines in "downloadstations.dat" :) It worked.CheersFede Federico Bellato
July 25, 200916 yr I've just seen exactly the same behaviour whilst sat at OPZB. The pressure dropped to 751mb, then the altimeter jumped up around 2000' then again. - Dean P3Dv4 & XP11 space
July 25, 200916 yr Author I've just seen exactly the same behaviour whilst sat at OPZB. The pressure dropped to 751mb, then the altimeter jumped up around 2000' then again. It is very likely affected by OPNH station, since it is near and interpolated (here at least it is interpolated). The region with the problem had a 500+ miles radius. Check OPNH and look at the QNH, the METAR string will say something like Q.0992, and the graphical condition will say Pressure 00.03, or even 00.00. If it is so, disable it. Same for WIOO and surrounding stations probably. Fede Federico Bellato
July 26, 200916 yr Hi All,We are aware that in some cases the QNH data is extremely low and this issue has been marked for us to look at in the future. Thanks,
July 26, 200916 yr Author Very good. I found out that, and wanted to share. Every wx snapshot has these 2 stations with Q.XXXX reported thus giving an incorrect interpretation to Q001 in the syntetized wx. Only those two ones (sometimes also VYMD, but more rarely). I just disabled them, and now works fine.CheersFede Federico Bellato
September 3, 200916 yr An old thread, but I found that VEJH causes problems as well.I flew from Dubai to Hong Kong last night and currently on the way back passing through the OPNH, VYMD areas, a very interesting ride.. :( Has this issue been looked into any further at all ?
September 4, 200916 yr Hi,No, not with SP1, but still on our bug list. Thanks,Thanks for the update Jim
August 9, 201411 yr Extremely outdated topic, but I faced exactly the same problem in norway.Sola/ Stavanger ICAO Code: ENZV ; QNH: 0992/29,26. Flying leads to strange behaviour. If somebody from Active Sky Next is reading this, pls correct it, if it is a bug. I think I have to disable the weatherstation. I`m using FSX, SP2, Airbus X extended, ASN, in this case: Stavanger X, Oslo X V2 and other airport sceneries in norway. Other weatherstations are working and I´m using Fiber Accelerator and AES.
