July 26, 200916 yr Christian,The Tileproxy default setting of 1.33 kills my modest machine when flying near airports or other scenery so I've knocked it down to the FSX deafult of 0.33 and everything is great, top frame rates again. Where did you get this 1.33 number because I read from a Aces dev that it only goes up to 0.99, has anyone experimented with this number? Also the TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=400 that Tileproxy adds, the same dev reckons 40 is the high end for this tweak. I've chenged it to 40 and it seems to be much better, textures pop back into clear view a lot quicker, where did the 400 number come from? I can fly about at 200 kts or more with the 40 setting and it works great, seems a lot better than 400.It was also recomennded by the dev to use SWAP_WAIT_TIMEOUT in fsx.cfg to clear up bottlenecked textures but I've no idea what number to add for that, I think it's tied to the frame rate. While I'm on, is there a way to change tileproxy's resolution on the fly? Like take off in a jet using 1m res, switch to 5m res when up at 10,000, then change back to 1m on descent?
July 26, 200916 yr Interesting post Hardcore. I've read the same as you and never got around to asking these questions. My understanding was that the fiber rate time fraction and bufferpools settings were valid up to SP1 and therefore Christian may not have got around to changing the numbers because they made no difference anyway. When it comes to the texture bandwidth mult setting, I initially tried 400 then went back to 40 and eventually with some trial and error found 80 to give best results. But I guess all systems are different. On your final question. There is no way to change the Tileproxy settings on the fly. It must be restarted for the proxyuser.ini settings to take effect.IAN Ryzen 5800X3D, Nvidia RTX5080 - 32 Gig DDR4 RAM, 1TB & 2 TB NVME drives - Windows 11 64 bit MSFS 2024 Premium Deluxe Edition Resolution 2560 x 1440 (32 inch curved monitor)
July 26, 200916 yr Author I think you're probably right with the 80 number, I've just reinstalled FSX so going to play around and test that. I was just wondering about the 0.33 number, maybe that can be adjusted a little higher to 0.5 or something but I'm not seeing any difference apart from the slideshow when landing at airports. I wondered if anyone had noticed the difference or tested the difference between 0.33 and 1.33.I think there's a way to use different tileproxy resolutions on the fly. Right click and copy the tileproxy folder then paste it again into the FSX folder so you now have a 'Tileproxy' folder and a 'Copy of Tileproxy' folder. Rename this new folder to Tileproxy5m. Change the proxyini file to show 5m res. Right click and make a shortcut to the ProxyUser.bat and call this Tileproxy5m. Move this to your desktop or start menu. Now you should be able to load up the original 1m Tileproxy, take off and fly. Once you're up to 10,000 or higher and don't need that detail, close Tileproxy, load up the 5m version that you made using the shortcut and it should start only loading 5m stuff. Before you're about to descend at the destination, close tileproxy and reload the original 1m version. As long as FSX is set to show 1m res, this should work shouldn't it?
