July 28, 200916 yr I wonder if anyone might be able to help.(hope this ok for the forum) I wanted to try and fly some carrier ops, so download AIcarrier2 by Lamont Clark installed as per setup menubut can't get the program to feature in the add on menu? In the software he also says if you have a problem to contact him but no e mail address?. Anyway I have checked my cfg which has a line entered, my exe.xml file has the correct path etc, I have Java installed and I am stuck. The silly thing is that I had it active a few months ago and deleted it for some reason (idiot)So any help would be greatly appreciated otherwise my carrier flying days are limited to accl missions. Thanks a lot,
July 28, 200916 yr Commercial Member This is probably not much help, but I had exactly the same thing happen to me after I had it installed and working. I tried everything to no avail. There was also not much help here, so I think no one really knows what to do if you have exhausted the java fix. How did I solve it? I was doing a re install of FSX and all my extras, and when I installed again on a fresh install, it worked a charm. I even completed my first carrier trap last week. So, if you have a back up or are just overdue a re install, try that.Cheers,Mark

I don't understand how this exe.xml file links to anything, all my other addons are shown in the dll.xml.Thanks,
July 28, 200916 yr You can do 'free flight' and do carrier ops. No mission needed. All you have to do is set DAY (of month) and TIME (of day) to 'intercept' a MOVING carrier. The one I use is sailing from Washington to San Francisco, CA (to just outside Golden Gate). The DAY is SATURDAY (preferably summer mo (ie: Jun-Aug) for more daylight as it gets there just before dark) and the time it ARRIVES is 01:07 ZULU. So to catch it 30 minutes 'out' you set Sim time to 00.30 ZULU (17:30 PST). There is a table/schedule that list other sites carrier sails at/to, but it escapes me right now where I got it (senior moment). Carrier will be coming out of West (Hdg 78). Go Trap.Chuck BNapamule

July 29, 200916 yr Thanks for the reply Chuck, are you talking about Flight Deck 5? or default FSX with Accll Pack.ThanksJust to finish this post, I relocated the aicarriers to my FSX drive and its now active, thanks for your help.
July 29, 200916 yr As an aside to the above, can someone do a sanity check for me? My AICarriers works fine, but I got a huge surprise when I looked in the "Processes" tab of Windows Task Manager yesterday. I found SIX instances of "aicarriers.exe" running...when FSX WASN'T running. It appears the "aicarriers.exe" process doesn't "shut down" when you exit FSX. And I'll be darned if I know why there were SIX instances of it running. I'm thinking that maybe each time you use AICarriers in FSX, it might start a new instance of itself, then not shut down any of them when you exit FSX. I manually deleted all six instances of the process in Task Manager, and don't appear to have any problems after that.I'm just curious if anybody else here sees multiple (or even one) instance of "aicarriers.exe" still running as a process even after FSX is closed.Rick Rick Ryan
July 29, 200916 yr A question to AICarriers2 users (and Nimitz package): I presume one needs FSX Edmundo Azevedo
July 29, 200916 yr Commercial Member Hi rick, as a matter of fact i noticed the same thing, as you say, i dont think it shuts down with FSX, so if you crash or shut down for whatever reason you end up with various versions running. perhaps someone can work out how to stop this.
