Question for NickN (quick and easy!)

Featured Replies

Nick,I have just spend a considerable amount of time painstakingly following your tweak and setup guides for both Windows XP and now FSX. Having done all of this work, the sim looks and runs great. thanks! Now my question, I have today purchased and installed REX. If I change themes after each flight, does this mess up all of the Complete/NAME defragging that I have done? I have been following a monthly schedule of defrag per your guidlines.thanks for the help.Mark.

I can answer this for Nick. Yes technically it will change things but it wont make any noticeable difference to performance so don't worry about it, just stick to your normal defrag schedule.

Cheers, Andy.

Thanks for the help. Well it turns out I messed up when installing the SDK and have to start over again. Now the question is do I have to redo the SPACE defrag when I am all done ? followed by the NAME defrag's ?Mark.

It would probably be a good Idea yes, it definitely makes a good case for having FSX and its basic add-ons installed on the one drive with nothing else installed on it, it makes this defragging process far quicker if you haven't got hundreds of gigs of other stuff to defrag too. Large photoscenery packages go on a different drive to FSX too on my rig so I end up with 3 drives. One for the OS and day to day programs, another for FSX and its add ons, and a final drive for huge photoscenery packages and other misc stuff that doesn't change often like the GEX, FEX installers etc.

Cheers, Andy.
