Featured Replies

I just downloaded, installed and tried this and it is far far far better!!! For me anyway. And just for some more Carenado related news... they have a Piper PA-28-181 Archer coming out, by the looks of it, it's an Archer II.

Does anyone know if you have to install all three patches or does the latest patch include the previous mods?ThanksTrafficPilot

I was just gonna ask you to test it, since you've flown one. The one seems like they dumbed things down so yes it's more stable, but at the FDE's actually more realistic? I don't know, never flown one. But it's not twitchy on the runway. The view in the VC still twitches when you change prop RPMs

I'll update my version with the patches and try some circuits around Oxford when I get home later. I'll post my thoughts tomorrow - would be nice if it finally flies properly!AdamTrafficPilot

After a few hours of flying the Seneca, I can say that the handling as definitely improved, more noticeably on take off, landing and trimming the a/c out. I can actually flare the a/c properly hold the nose attitude without nose wheel hammering into the deck. Also, no more vertical take offs!!!

Updated mine with all the patches. Took it for a few circuits last night. Yes pitch stability definitely improved but it still doesn't "handle right" IMHO. I loaded the RealAir Duke afterwards and flying wise it's a massive improvement. The Carenado Seneca appears to do exactly the same thing as the Carenado Arrow ie nose wheel whacks into the ground on landing despite holding off and flairing at the correct speed. You appear to have solved this? Are you using the CH or Saitek Yoke? The Digital Aviation Cheyenne still holds the award for most immersive and authentic FSX addon for me. The Seneca is sadly going back in the hanger until Carenado write a more authentic FDE.RegardsTrafficPilot

I'm much happier with the Seneca after this patch. Pitch feels "right" now.The last little issue I have is the autopilot annunciator panel. NAV and ALT mode indicators appear in the same spot, which doesn't affect flying too much (I know which button I pressed!), but it's certainly visually obvious. They have a tendency to "stick" after deactivation, too, as I noticed last night. Landed at VRB (taking her to HQ!), taxi'd in to parking, shut down, and lo and behold, cold and dark with everything off... the annunciator says I have NAV activated!Very fun aircraft in FSX. One thing I wonder, though... all the descriptions mention the "certified for flight into known icing conditions" bit, but I see nothing beyond the wing ice light for dealing with ice buildup. There aren't even boots on the model! Any thoughts? Or was that just a pretty description?

Re: the nosewheel whacking the ground-are you cutting the power instead of carrying some and gradually reducing it in the flare? In a multi the engines are producing some of the lift over the wing-if cutting the power abruptly that could be causing the nosewheel whack-just an idea..

I'm using the Saitek X52 Pro.Also how are you landing it?My dad, who's currently doing an IR at Dundee with Tayside, flys the Seneca II and the way he's told me to land is by flairing THEN taking power off and, for me, this works and it just settles down on the mains and I can hold the nose up.This is also the way I've been trained in the DHC-1 Chipmunk at Prestwick so it's the technique I always use and it always work for me, no matter what a/c.Hope this helpsRoss.
