July 29, 200916 yr Earlier today I purchased Captain Sim 757 for FSX and decided to give it a bit of a spin. So obviously I follow the install, seems to install fine, accept all the gauges when FS X Starts and up and then I load the plane getting ready to fly and I have no Attitude indicator, Airspeed, Altitude, Headings, Flight plans, you name it on the glass cockpit displays.Picture example here:EDIT: Also my ground Power unit and Air bleed unit panels don't seem to work either :SI have being frantically pressing buttons for the past 20 minutes to see if that changed anything, but no luck at allAny help would be apreciated!
July 29, 200916 yr Looks like you haven't aligned the IRS (Inertial Reference System) to me.So you need to do one of two things. Either, look on the overhead and move the selector switch on the navigation system panel to 'PPOS', and then turn the nav system switches to the 'ALIGN' position. Alternatively, you can open up the CDU (FMC) and choose the 'POS INIT' (position initialisation) page and click on the line select key alongside where it has your map coordinates, which will put them in the scratchpad, and then you can click on the line select key alongside the empty position boxes to put that coordinate in (effectively this is copying and pasting). When you've done either of those things, you can then go and switch the navigation switches to either the 'NAV' or the 'ATT' positions (notice it says ATT on your primary flight display, which is what it is asking you to do), and your instruments should come alive. But...Note that if you don't do the method with the FMC, you will have to wait for the aircraft's laser ring gyros to manually align themselves, which takes anything up to fifteen minutes on a real aeroplane (depending on where it is on the planet), since they work by detecting the inertia on the aircraft from the rotation of the Earth, to determine the aircraft's position, which is why it is called an inertial reference system.Be careful to wait the ten minutes or so if you do the manual align method (actually it is also possible to key it in if you know your position, which is why there is a keypad on the nav panel, and that is quicker, but don't worry about that unless you like all that realism stuff). If you take off without your gyros properly aligned, your displays will not accurately reflect your true position and the nav system won't work properly, also it can sometimes shut down your instruments after a while, leaving you with only the standby ones (that happened to a LOT Polish Airlines 737 NG crew over London last year, and they were all over the place before finally making an emergency landing).Hope that helps.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
July 29, 200916 yr Adding to what Chock has said, the CS757 is one of the more complex aircraft add-ons, that you can't just "jump in and take for a spin".Some reading of the manual is definately required, particularly if you haven't flown an aircraft like this (with FMC/IRS, etc) in FSX before. You can get the manuals by logging into the CS website with your order number and e-mail address here: http://www.captainsim.com/cgi-bin/login.pl Once logged in, click on the product you purchased, and on the next page under Active Services, click Get Manuals. July 30, 200916 yr This plane is simplified in some parts, so you can align IRS quickly by turning the three switches, mentioned earlier, to NAV position, and then enter the GPS location. Alignment is somewhat instant. https://www.youtube.com/user/JustaRandomSimmer Simulator Videos http://sierra-hotel.blogspot.com Aviation Picture Blog
