I'm bout 40 miles out of KJAX do a weather request and get arriving and departing runway 7. No probs I enter it in FMC.... Get told to contact Approach and told arrival runway 23 .... Anyone see where I'm going with this?So I'm so close to the runway I can taste it and lo and behold guess who is doing the joust thing coming the other way.. another airliner... well it being the competition and all.. I ingnore the insignificant go around radio traffic.....I think JD just loves calling FSDO on me... they even took my license :-( * I gave them a fake one so I can still fly :-) * )So why did RC give me the totally opposite runway when AI traffic is using the other one?

i'd have to see a log, to be sure. it's possible there were no ai landing when you get the weather. then when you contact approach, there are ai landing. on a different runway. you don't want to play chicken with the ai, do you? so approach gives you the runway the ai are landing.if you can duplicate the problem, make a log, duplicate the problem, zip it up, and send it to mejd

This always happens with RC. If it's not AI traffic, it's AI ground vehicles. RC tends to just be something that's there for you only, FSX air traffic control is still audiable in the background and is sending AI your way.

I guess it was that because ATIS said rwy 7 then 10 seconds later RC said 23 ... I supose the wind speed was too low to really matter, but if ATIS reported the correct runway, then why did RC give me the reciprocal runway when AI obviously was using the runway ATIS said and all this only 10 seconds or so apart.Aint no biggie I have lots of fake pilot licenses :-)It's hard to make a log for these things since by the time I see the problem it is too late to start it.. No worries...I wasn't gonna be one who chicken's out.... the other plane should go around.... :-)

let's say the time is 00:00 and there are no ai landing. the wind is calm, and runway 7 has ils. that is the runway i'm going to pick for your landing runwaymove the clock up one minute to 01:00, and you have contacted approach. now there is an ai landing on runway 23. now approach is going to give you that runway, so that you will be landing with the traffic.if we make this timeline a little different, and at 00:00, there are ai landing on runway 23, that is the runway atis will say is active.at 01:00 when you contact approach, there might not be any ai that are landing, they have all landed. approach is still going to give you runway 23.does that helpjd

I think I get it.. but then I am getting old :-)It just seemed kind of odd that I got the ATIS weather report to land on runway 7 , then less than a minute later I contacted approach and was given runway 23, then 40 miles later there are still AI landing runway 7 ..And I could and probably should have switched runways back to runway 7 .It's cool... just get to work on RC 5 :-)
