737-700 enigine start up failure

Featured Replies

I am attempting to start up my enigines and have been having the same issue. In attempt to make sure I'm correctly starting the plane I have pulled up some helpful online videos that show the start up. I beleive everything is right and both engines start up but within 30 seconds of them going on, they both die. Any thougths?I start with a cold start and followed a few videos but no luck. No matter what I do, they start and die.

Please sign your name to posts in this forum.Any thoughts? Well, not knowing what you did or didn't do leads one to speculate if you followed the checklist. Normal start is with APU providing bleed air, fuel pumps on start levers up and packs off I think.

Sounds like your start levers are not switched on. They are the levers displayed on the throttle quadrant under the main throttle levers. If they are shut off, the engine spools up and then shuts back down.John

Do you get an EGT rise when you raise the start lever? How about fuel state?Matt Colles

You have the start levers up before you press the start switch on the overhead? Not that it matters that much in FS i suppose, but i thought you hit the start switch, then when N1 is up to 15 you raise the fuel lever for that engine. In other words, start fuel flowing into the engine after it's started spooling up. No?

You thought correct.Start SWITCH (on overhead) goes to GROUND and then you should see the N1 increasing.25% N1 is recommended, 20% N1 is the minimum BEFORE you raise the start lever. (I don't think the sim gets close to 25%.)

(I don't think the sim gets close to 25%.)You mean the N2, you want to lift the fuel shutoff levers around 20-25%N2 when you see N1 start to spool up.Kevin Wojtanek

Correct, thanks. I spent too many years with Ng and Np. :)
