August 6, 200916 yr I went to Alphasim's website and it doesn't look good. Many of their aircraft are now freeware, great scenery is now gone, and the 'Shop' link is broken. These guys look be on the verge of closing their doors. I sure wish they'd offer up their many of their older bombers, transports, and scenery for free since (if) their going under. It makes no since to 'sh&*^ can' all that work into oblivion. I'll never understand developers doing that. I'd really like to get their Nellis AirForce base which their no longer offering. Maybe their just restructuring which is the best hope for any developer during these tough times...Anyone remember their rendition of Area 51 with the UFO? It's a shame these guys pulled their scenery. FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR
August 7, 200916 yr i dont think they are closing their doors. Could be that they are having their servers upgraded for the shop.i follow their "unofficial" alphasim forum, and they have many cool projects in development. The reason why certain items are no longer available is a longer story. I believe it has to do w/ their sub-contractors (sub contractor own the model, and when they terminated their contract w/ AS, they took the rights back for the models....or at least that's my guess).I have a love/hate thing w/ alphasim Lol. They make some of the coolest models (and rare planes nobody else models), but that's about it. Flight package, system simulation, forget it. It's more like an arcade game. But, they still do a good job and i support their stuff...-feng
August 7, 200916 yr AlphaSim make their own stuff, but a lot of what they sell is made by external freelancers, and they are simply the vendors of it, so it would not be entirely up to them to offer things for free even if they had been sold as 'Alphasim wares' at some point. That's one of the reasons why the details and depth of their stuff has varied considerably over the years, because it has often come from a wide range of sources.I suspect they are more likely to be having a server change or temporary issue with their website rather than going under.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
August 7, 200916 yr They've posted an announcement on the site, their host is having some technical problems. They expect the store to be back soon.Regards.Ernie.
