Im having this issue with my laptop monitor ,this colored vertical pixel lines , im sure its the video card but ok.. and in top of that i have low specs. Even , i still want to install fs9 again i try to fly with these conditions , i know the cockpit will look different with all these colors (about 7 pixel lines , green , red , blue ...)but i want to try.My question is, is anybody here in same conditions, bad computer ,monitor screw'd up ,that still tries to enjoy the simulator? Safe flying. PS: that monitor is not mines , just an example of how it looks.

looks like LCD damage to me ... laptops get beat around because of their mobile nature.have you tried using your video-out port hooked to a stand-alone monitor? is this how you confirmed the videocard hasn't failed?could also be just slow failure. things 'wear out'.--

I have seen this condition several times before. They were caused by two different situations. The first, was that the monitor was impacted in some way causing the diodes to blow out or become disconnected. The second was caused by letting a magnatized object get too close to the screen. In these cases there are three alternatives. Least effective and most annoying is to live with it. Neither case distorts the total out come of the picture but does leave the white lines in place. The second solution is to always use an external monitor to view the picture as it should be. This is not a great solution for a laptop unless you only use it for a desktop machine, and don't need to pack it with you to work or business trips. The third solution and probably the most expensive, would be to take the computer to an authorized service center, and replace the monitor. This would also insure there are no other problems with the video system on the computer. The current monitor can be fixed, but often times is more expensive than replacing the monitor, as during the process of repair, not only do the affected diodes require replacement, but all the diodes then have to be aligned to make sure you get the proper picture. Most repair facilities either don't have the tools, or the knowledge to carry out the proceedure. These are the scenarious I have seen, and there are I am sure others. The bottom line would be to take the computer in to have it evaluated proffessionally and discuss options at that time.Hope this helps with the decision process.John

There are a couple possible causes here, one is a damaged/loose video cable, the other is a damaged LCD panel. Fortunately both are relatively inexpensive. If you have the technical know-how, I suggest checking your video cable for proper connection and signs of physical damage first and foremost. Most laptop LCDs are easily accessible by simply removing a few screws from the LCD bezel (plastic cover) on the front of the LCD. Beyond that you would need to purchase replacement parts. I suggest you pay Bliss Computers a visit. I've purchased LCDs from them many times over the years.ironhorsmn: LCDs are not sensitive to magnetization, unlike CRTs. Even if they were they wouldn't exhibit perfectly uniform lines of stuck pixels.
