August 13, 200916 yr HelloI installed Real Environment Pro and I noticed that I'm "forced" to choose what runway texture to install, Dry, Wet or snow.I can understand that FS9 doesn't support "wet" ground texture effects but why I have to choose between snow and dry??/What happen if I take off from Chicago in january flying to a Carribean location?? I would find snow on the runway in Cancun!!!Basic FS9 supports seasonal switch between winter snowy airport surfaces and dry ones. Why this doesn't happen in REP??? Any particular technical reason??It would seem very easy, just copy both winter and summer runway texture......Regards
August 13, 200916 yr Apperantly FS9 has only 1 runway texture / bitmap regardless of the season.So there's no way to dynamically change the runway textureEgbert Location: Vleuten, The Netherlands, 17.3dme SPL 108.40 | Simulator: FS2024 System: AMD 7800X3D - Gigabyte X670 - RTX 4090 - 64GB DDR5 - 2 x 2TB SSD - 32" 1440p Display - Windows 11 Pro

This is why if you are designing scenery and you load it into FS to see how it looks and then you want to change a few things you will have to reload the sim to see them. All textures are loaded at the startup, so this is not a function that REP has anything to do with, neither is it something except for Microsoft could fix.
August 13, 200916 yr Sorry guys maybe I could nto exlain myself properlyWhat I mean is, in FS9 with its default runway texture if I go to Chicago O'Hare in January I see snow on the runway compared to, let's say July when the runway is dry.So evidently Microsoft has 2 different textures for the runway between winter (in certain locations) and summer (if you look in the main texture folder you will see, for example, some bitmap named such as runway13_wi.bmp where "_wi" stands for winter I believe). So why Real Environment Pro doesn't have the "snowy" runway textures named in the same way?? I'm missing something??ThanksRegards

August 13, 200916 yr Hi All,I guess I'm confused too, but in a different way. When I look at my Real Environment Pro main screen, under Wx Environment, I see three choices: Dry, Wet, and Snow. Those represent the three types of runway conditions that REP contains. So, why can't you choose to install the Dry textures in the Spring, Summer, and Fall, when it is dry, the Wet textures when you know it is raining, and the Snow textures in the Winter? Yes, you need to do this manually before starting FS as REP cannot do this for you, and you cannot do this after starting FS.

And I like the texture better.
August 14, 200916 yr Yes, Real Envoronment Pro seems non capable of doing a seasonal switch, Airport Enrironment, insteead, it is. And I like the texture better.AES by Aerosoft does this dynamically for you. If it is raining you get wet textures, snowing you get ice covered runways and dry the normal textures. The changes are made dynamically within FS and you don't have to load anything.Cheers,-P Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
