FSX Configuration Tool - To all developers

Featured Replies

Dear Developers,Like many FSX users, I have various cfg files for various aircraft with various settings for various areas in the world for various sceneries. It would be really nice to have one utility, with a simple user interface, that I start up before FSX where I can select from the following custom files that I have:1. Is FTX active or not? (Nice to know before I start changing everything and without having to open the FTX Configurator)2. Scenery.cfg (Where are you flying? eg Megascenery, Switzerland Pro, Tongass etc)3. lclookup.bgl (Are you flying in a Scenery Tech area or not?)4. fsx.cfg (Realism settings for various aircraft eg Duke B60, L39, Helicopters etc)5. Standard.xml (Controller realism for Planes or Helicopters)6. CH Control manager - Button to launch this utilityThe Utility should read from a folder where I store my custom fsx.CFG, lclookup.bgl, Scenery.CFG and Standard.XML files and just swap them out as necessary. Thanks for listening,Toby

Hi Toby, I was kindly shown by someone I know how to make a simple batch file that will swap different .cfg files in and out before you start FSX. Its a one click solution, I was just using it for the .cfg file, so I cant say how or if it would work with the other types or locations, but it should be pretty simple for anyone who is a whiz at DOS to alter it to suit. When i get home later I will post the text.cheers, Mark

Hi Toby,I believe that you can set up all of the features that you mention (and even more) with a Ken Salter utility. I use his FSAutoStart program but there is a newer version. I think the name is PCAlacrity, or AlacrityPC, or similar. Hopefully someone who has the newer program will chime in with the name and perhaps a link.R-

hi mark, that sounds like a great solution... thanks...hi ron, thanks for the tip but alacrity is used for shutting down services..I already have a special hardware profile for fsx where all unnecessary services are deactivated...

Hi Toby, would you mind sharing the text, might be useful !! Here is the text for mine, it also starts Trackir5 for me...:copy "c:\Users\mark\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files\fsxmaster.cfg" "c:\Users\Mark\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\fsx.cfgPause"C:\Program Files (x86)\NaturalPoint\TrackIR5\TrackIR5.exe" Obviously you will need to edit to suit your own file paths.cheers, Mark

Hi Mark,You might be missing the /Y command at the end of the batch command. This force overwrites any existing file in the destination folder with the same name.I created a separate post about creating batch files, hope it helps! You don't need to start Trackir like this.Open Trackir, go to Options, check Run at Startup, Run Minimized, Close to Tray. Then it will start up minimized in the tray every time you start windows. Thanks for your help and for pointing me in the right direction.
