August 20, 200916 yr The exterior model looked nice. The developer took too many liberties with panel. Obviously he had never seen the panel of an old fastback. I owned one of those things. When Cessna built those things they used miltary surplus stuff. The gyrocampass was an old horizontal moving card device. My gyro horizon was built by C G Conn ltd of Elkhart Indiand under license from the sperry gyroscope company. Mine was ser no.81085B. I know that because I still have it. I had an old Narco "coffee grinder" radio and a "newer" 360 channel navcom. Also the yokes are not vintage. In short, I would not purchase that product unless the panel was a true 1958 arrangement. Sorry about that. Better luck next time.Paul
August 21, 200916 yr I agree.I think the review - although generally good - slightly overstated this addon in terms of quality. I've no interest in bashing the developer, but this was his first payare product and I think the quality did not reach that expected for a payware FSX aircraft.I agree totally on the VC / panel. If the whole 'feel' of this product is about a 1958 vintage C172, why splatter the whole panel with the default GPS500 ! I removed this gauge from the VC using panel editor and it was an improvement. Other areas of weakness are some of the texturing and (as covered in the review), the lack of any included Sound (except a single custom flap sound I believe).Flight Dynamics are ok, but I suspect heavily based in the default FSX 172.Not a bad add-on (better than Abacus by a long margin for example), but people should be aware, this addon is nowhere near Carenado quality.David.
September 24, 200916 yr I felt that the review was good overal. I too am disappointed that it references default 172 sounds and gauges. Being a payware aircraft, I expected more. Overall I think it is a wonderful product. It really does look like a 1958 152. I am lucky to have flown one many times. One thing I must point out about the review. It states that he is disappointed about how fast the flaps go up and down. The fact is, the 1958 172 has manual flaps, with a flap lever that looks like an old parking brake handle taken out of a (old)VW bug. One can accomplish very short field take-off with this plane by "popping" the flaps to full in the intant you need to get airborne, and suddenly you are in the air. I hope this company puts out more aircraft like this. I really do like this one.
September 24, 200916 yr Good review by Angelique. She was diplomatic as usual but she did address the essential flaws with this addon ; it is basically a freeware-quality addon that is being sold for a 'far from freeware' price! The huge default GPS500 stuck right in the middle of the panel goes against the whole '58 thing for a start. There are some generally low quality textures in the VC.And the default sound (minus the flaps sound which is custom) .............As I said, if this was freeware it would probably be seen as 'good' or above 'average' (not excellent - there is better freeware out there, than this payware). But at $22+ this product lacks basic quality that buyers would expect.David.

There is a quote I want to put here for diplomacy, from a Tom Clancy book, but I can't put it here as it's a little less child safe than some would hope.
