  1. Amazing, time to do some research.*puts on C++ coder hat*

Agreed, there are a lot of jerks out there who want to ruin it for everyone. We do need to be thankful for those who enforce the rules and keep things flowing as smoothly as possible.
  3. That is another possibility, but I wouldn't be suprised if it was the same person myself. I doubt anyone would use their real name pulling crap like this.
  4. I feel really sorry for the poor folks who don't realize that it's a scam. This just confirms however that the person is changing their name on the site every time they shift to a new name for their scam. It makes me wonder who they really are.

I have a fairly uncommon name personally. I have realized to calm down over time, and some of the arguments I've gotten involved in I do regret, however generally speaking, I don't try to get in fights anymore unless I have to. Even compared to this time last year, I've seriously mellowed out. I still personally feel that some members of the community need a wake up call though. As a general rule for anyone who hasn't been convinced yet, remember that unless the employer knows you beforehand, there's good odds that one or two major incidents would ruin your chances of employment.
  6. You would be right, however most of that stuff is pretty hard for Al Queda to get a hold of.
  7. A great comedian, he will be missed. And stop calling him Shirley already.
  8. I have to agree, you can't stick to only developing for the last generation of technology and software. When you do that, you destroy your potential. When you destroy your potential, you destroy your future.
  9. It is a fair stance, this is just some con artist trying to market Free Open Source as a new product. It's just a con-artist who is trying to play on people's not knowing about flightgear. It is especially bad given that I've seen ads for it or it's related scams on facebook and google ads, and just about everywhere else. I have to wonder how many people get ripped off because this guy is so spread out in marketing and the people are uninformed.
  10. The reality is that there is no one perfect method to secure the air, however hyperbole over sensationalist crap isn't going to help anyone.
  11. The "company" appears to be based out of New Zealand, however the individual is in the United States according to the FGFS mailing list.
  12. Thanks for that clarification. I wasn't aware that the composite would not be able to be machined using CAD/CAM.
  13. I'll probably do that sometime soon. I have a lot of other stuff on my plate however right now. That's something that I was considering, however the main issue with the Falcon 4.0 sounds is that Atari had a bad tendency to try to sue modders of Falcon 4.0, and I really doubt they'd take kindly to my using it on a non-Falcon project all together. Also, sorry my response took so long, but I recently had a little bit of a wild ride getting a term paper ready and handed in. That kind of shifted my focus away from everything here, and I completely forgot about this post until 10-15 minutes ago.
  14. I think it has more to do with the engineers designing the aircraft than the manufacturing of the parts. Generally speaking, you would more likely see a CAD program, such as Autocad or Catia used to design the aircraft, and then the part designs from the CAD program are put in the CAM program which basically automates the stamping out of the parts using robots and a computer. At least, that's my understanding of it.
  15. Hey guys, I'm working on a project and I've been trying to figure out where to find the voice warning unit system sounds for various fighter and attack aircraft (primairly the F-16). Does anyone know of a good place to find these, the results whenever I Google this usually turn up black box recordings from crashes, which aren't very helpful. I did find one result for the F-16 from f16.net, however because it was a sample from Falcon 4.0, I'd rather avoid legal issues. Thanks,Peter
  16. Hence why I stopped playing CoD after CoD World at War. CoD is very good at cinematic feel, however as you said, it's more of an interactive movie than a game. Personally I have even heard some reports that even some of the CoD fans were dissappointed with it. It sounds like they did well with the cinematic aspect, but the gameplay really isn't there. I can't confirm that for myself however, as I haven't played it.
  17. http://wiki.flightge...hp/FlightProSimNote that this is older and less current than even the current stable FGFS, let alone the unstable GIT repository. This is on top of the fact that they are basically scamming people in to buying re-branded open source freeware. Also does anyone else notice the name of the seller changing whenever the name of the re-brand changes? On a side note, this is why I never trust websites in that specific format, usually it's a scam.
  18. :That's a game breaker alright, I guess that just confirms that I won't buy it.
  19. Maybe when we all have 1 petabyte solid state drives and 50 terrabyte removable discs will we have circa 2006 Google earth orthophotos for the whole world.http://www.gearthblo...dup_google.html
  20. Generally speaking, business refusing to go over to a newer version will just experience some major issues down the line when support runs out in a few years.
  21. Don't forget "Down with the Tango".I really hope I'm not the only one who gets nostalgia from this:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FS4W95YkLw0
  22. Personally, I can see why businesses are going Linux. It is much more stable and much less resource hungry than Windows. I currently run a dual boot of Windows 7 64 bit and Ubuntu 10.10 64 bit on my desktop, and Windows 7 32 bit and Linux Mint Debian Edition on the laptop I take with me to use at school (and occasionally have some gaming or programming fun on as well). Overall, if I could, I'd go pure Linux, but most of what I have won't run on it sadly, even with WINE. Once I can play my main games and sims on Linux with no problem, I'm golden and will most likely format away Windows. The good news on that front is there is an unofficial Linux driver for video cards that now has DX10 and 11 support built in the driver.
  23. A few of Tom Clancy's books have already covered that topic. The books that I can recall off the top of my head were 'Teeth of the Tiger', 'Debt of Honor', 'Rainbow Six', 'The Sum of All Fears', and 'Patriot Games'. Also, can we please get a spoiler tag on the forum? That way I don't have to leave the details out so that people don't get spoilers for those books by accident.
  24. Just my input on this subject matter. Maybe finally it will start causing the dropping of development for DX9 and start with actually going pure DX10/11, with 10 being the legacy at this point. DX9 has been holding gaming back for years. We really haven't seen anywhere near as much of a leap of PC games over console games in recent years compared to even the PS2/Xbox Original/Gamecube days because people have been sticking with DX9 and XP and thus developers won't focus on taking advantage of the new technology.
  25. That depends on the AI, some of it qualifies for Artificial Idiot. Overall though, you are correct. Basically it means that it is a Non Player Controled aircraft that are flying around the simulated world in this case.
