FS9 Flight Planner Crash

Featured Replies

Hello guys, FS9 problems are common, but always able to solve, and now I need your help.Basically, my problem is in the FS9 Flight Planner which causes FS9 to crash, and I don't get any information of what might be wrong. But I have a few hints, since this problem only appears when dealing (in the flight planner) around Frankfurt airport (Aerosoft Scenery) and around Hannover airport (Aerosoft Scenery). Working close to these airports in the Flight Planner always causes a freeze, and then a sudden crash of FS9.I suppose it has to be a bgl or dll file coming with the Aerosoft sceneries that causes the problems, but at the same time, I haven't heard about any other having this problem, so I am pretty confused and dejected.I'm afraid I can't give you any more information, this is all I've got. But hopefully some of you have any ideas. Thanks in advice!

Flight Planner problems are almost always caused by scenery, but identifying which can be hard. It may be a bad file a long way from Frankfurt or Hannover. I use the Aerosoft Frankfurt and Hannover in German Airports 3 without problem so it probably isn't a consistent fault with the sceneries.Firstly, I would check for duplicate AFCADs - you may have some in there for those airports with differing co-ordinates. And for any remnants of previous sceneries. But if it isn't as easy as that I think you may be in for a long-drawn-out temporary elimination exercise. Rather than write things out again, I have written some suggestions on this at my web site at: http://www.adventure-unlimited.org/faultfi...g.php#offendingHope this helps,John

What? So this FS9's Flight Planner crash is not only limited to flights in Colombia and Venezuela? Lots of people have been reporting this problem on Virtualcol's forums, I've found that by simply deleting fs9.cfg and letting the sim regenerate it "cures" the problem.Actually, this is not a solution but a workaround. Why? Probably there's something wrong your Aerosoft sceneries (or something else) added to the airways and waypoints near Frankfurt and Hannover (and in the case of Virtualcol's Colombia Virtual 2007, somewhere close to the Colombian-Venezuelan border), so when these faulty airways/waypoints show up in the Flight Planner's map, they'll produce an error and will crash FS (so you may be right when saying there is something wrong with a BGL). The workaround is, after deleting and regenerating fs9.cfg, do not mess anymore with the map view settings (show/hide airways, waypoints, etc.)... NEVER! I haven't ever touched these settings and haven't got any crash since. Anyway, now I use SimRoutes and FSBuild for generating my flight plans, I only use FS9 Flight Planner when I have to load the flightplan in the aircraft that way.Hope this helps.Best regards from Colombia,Luis Miguel

Thank you for your replies guys, I've tried a few things that you've said, but no success. My only way to fix this is a fresh install of the flightsim, and then installing addon by addon to see what's wrong.Your help is appreciated! :(
