$100 REWARD in U.S. Dollars

In 10 years of reading fourms I never seen this done before but this is how much I really want to be able to do this..... paint OUT the cotpit seats in VC panel views. I want to back up my VC views in most of my aircraft but then the @#$% seat BLOCKS my view of the panel. There MUST be some way to "paint" out the seat so that I can view the panel from any distance. Just changing the "viewpoint" does NOT reaLLY FIX MY PROBLEM. Tell me how to paint out the seats (in enought detail that I can do it) and I'll pay you $100. Just to show you that I trust you, I'll send you the $100 FIRST. jerrycwo4

You can't "paint" out a seat! It's not a texture.. it is a physical part of the model... made of polygons! It is 3-dimensional... not 2-dimensional. :( The only way you can remove seats in the VC is if you have the original model source code. You'd be wiser to spend your $100 on something like Track IR...then you'll never have that problem

Haven't actually tried this - but what if you made sure the texture file (for the seat) was saved to DXT3 or similar format then made the corresponding part of the texture transparant? fs would still draw the seat but you wouldn't see it.DaveI'll try it now........

Well, it sort of works.I just replaced the transparancey layer in the default baron 58 and am now flying with semi-see-through seats.Only problem is, FS's drawing order isn't very refined so I can see right through the hull in places - not too bad though, but I wont claim the $100 just yet!!! LOLDon't know what plane you want to do it with - might work better with others.I assume you know how to alter textures - easy enough to do.....Dave

Here ya go - a couple of pix, one inside with alpha channel of seats set so they're just visible - see where the apron shows through? If you pull back farther more of the seat comes into view so you can see through the hull more.Second shot is outside view with seats not alpha'd, so you can still see 'em. (Lookie, thats ME in that plane!!)Just noticed you need detailed instructions how to do - I'll post them if you really need them - it really is easy.

Got it!Tried different aircraft - same thing.BUT - saved the file to dxt1 format and heres the result. note I didnt do the seat belts so you can still still see themThis is the Cessna 150 by Francoise-denis, Franckart Yves, Jean-Michel and Jean-Pierre

Dave, You might just almost be there. You said you didn't "paint out the seatbealts" and you can see them. Does that mean that it is possible to paint out the seatbealts also if one took the time to do it? I don't want to see the seat bealts either. If it is possible to paint out anything that you want to by this method? Send me the instructions on how to do it and as soon as I can do it I'll be happy to send you the $100.00.
