August 26, 200916 yr Hello All,I have been thinking about getting a second monitor for FSX. I borrowed a friends old 15" CRT monitor the other day, just to fool around with a two monitor set-up. I have an nVivdia 8800GTX card, so I just plugged the old monitor into the second DVI on the card. Changed settings in the nVidia control panel for two monitors (Dualview), and it seemed to work fine. I could undock and drag windows (like the gps, throttle quad, etc.) over to the CRT, no problem. What I couldn't do, however, was stretch the main VC view across both screens. What I'm after is the Triple Head 2 Go panoramic effect, just with 2 screens instead of 3. Is this possible just coming out of the video card, or does it require a Triple Head 2 Go device (probably the Dual Head 2 go). Thanks!Paul
August 26, 200916 yr make sure you set your resolution to, for example, 2048 X 768 inside FS. If the Nvidia control panel picks up both monitors correctly, should be able to have that setting available for display settings.Since my setup for ONE monitor is 1024 X 768, just double the width and you should be able to go. So if your resolution is 800 X 600, you'd make it 1600 X 600.Hope this helps. :) Hello All,I have been thinking about getting a second monitor for FSX. August 26, 200916 yr John,Thanks for the advice, man. I'm off to newegg to order the new monitor!!PaulDualView is just that, dual views with multiple monitors, what you are asking about is usually referred to as "span" mode (I think) Not in front of my multi-monitor box so can't check...In Nvidia, you should have different multi monitor options, look for span or something like that which will change both screens to a single image across both monitors... Take a quick look at my sig below to see what you can start to do with multi monitor setups ;)Good luck,-P Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
August 28, 200916 yr Author Well, I just recieved my second monitor (Hanns-G HX191D 19" square...so far, I really like!). Per John's advice, I tried finding the doubled resolution in FSX (it would be 2560x1024, since I am running my desktop at 1280x1024), but that resolution does not show up. In the Nvidia control panel, I am set ZDualview, and I now have the desktop screen spanning across both monitors, at the lower native resolution of 1280x1024. I have the option in the Nvidia control panel of setting up custom resolutions, which I have done for both monitors (the doubled 2560x1024). It has the effect of shrinking everything down horizontally in FSX. When I try to drag the edges of the screen across to span over both monitors, I eventually the image won't stretch anymore, giving me a black screen on the right edge. I guess the problem is that I can't get FSX to offer me the higher resolution as one of the choices in the drop-down box. Any thoughts about this? I really don't want to have to buy Dual Head 2 Go, if I can help it! Thanks!Paul
