Hi All.I was wondering if anyone could help with this at all.I am trying to find out which one of these settings makes the scenery seem clearer. It doesn't look terrible, don't get me wrong, but I have had it looking much better than it is now before the format. I backed up everything, but missed the crucial FS9.1 .cfg file duh! There used to be a word doc created by someone that gave out some good tips for tweaking FS, but I can't seem to find it anywhere.Anyway, the settings I am talking about are these below.[DISPLAY]UPPER_FRAMERATE_LIMIT=30TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=240RUNWAY_LIGHTS_SURFACE_SCALAR=0.7 //scales edge, center, end, touchdown, runways RUNWAY_LIGHTS_VASI_SCALAR=0.7 // scales VASI lights)RUNWAY_LIGHTS_APPROACH_SCALAR=0.7 // scales approach light bars RUNWAY_LIGHTS_STROBE_SCALAR=0.7 //scales RAILs and ODALs)[TERRAIN]TERRAIN_EXTENDED_TEXTURES=1TERRAIN_TEXTURE_SIZE_EXP=8TERRAIN_ERROR_FACTOR=100.000000TERRAIN_MIN_DEM_AREA=10.000000TERRAIN_MAX_DEM_AREA=100.000000TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL=21TERRAIN_AUTOGEN_DENSITY=5TERRAIN_USE_GRADIENT_MAP=1TERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS=9.500000TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS=4.500000 < I'm sure it's one of these.TERRAIN_EXTENDED_LEVELS=1Obviously I don't mind playing around with them after making a back up one first, but I just wondered if anyone else had managed to get theirs looking a little sharper and in focus better. right below and immediately close to the a/c it's fine, it's just a few miles out it seems to take a little longer to get in to focus better.I'm running Win XP Pro with SP3 using a Geforce 7800 GS with 512 on board RAM, and my CPU is a Pentium4 3.40 HT with 2Gigs or RAM.Thanks in advance for any thoughts or suggestions.

Steve.

By no means a guru but here are my settings for the following;TERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS=9.000000TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS=9.90000TERRAIN_EXTENDED_LEVELS=4This setting has been obtained after much searching of this and other web sites, try it and see how you get on.Good luck!

I believe I use:TERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS=4TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS=3TERRAIN_EXTENDED_LEVELS=1And that provides excellent results on my machine... (specs below)

Those settings can vary from PC to PC, due to a different components. So there is no settings that work for all, same. Here is mine for example.[TERRAIN]TERRAIN_ERROR_FACTOR=100.000000TERRAIN_MIN_DEM_AREA=10.000000TERRAIN_MAX_DEM_AREA=200.000000TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL=21TERRAIN_TEXTURE_SIZE_EXP=8TERRAIN_AUTOGEN_DENSITY=5TERRAIN_USE_GRADIENT_MAP=1TERRAIN_EXTENDED_TEXTURES=1TERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS=8TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS=8 TERRAIN_EXTENDED_LEVELS=215926461.th.jpg

My Specification: I CAN RUN FSX IN MAX SETTINGS....i don't care about dell, bell, amd, intel, 60000 wats power supply or alien made graphic card....

Hi Guy's.Many thanks for posting your settings. It's very interesting to see just how much they can differ between PC's.Of course, as mentioned by dallyborr, there are simply no standard settings, it all depends on your PC's specs.I notice how they differ in these areas particularly >ppgstf's settingsTERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS=9.000000TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS=9.90000TERRAIN_EXTENDED_LEVELS=4psolk's settingsTERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS=4TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS=3TERRAIN_EXTENDED_LEVELS=1dallyborr's settingsTERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS=8TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS=8 TERRAIN_EXTENDED_LEVELS=2I will have a play with them and see what happens. Thanks to all three of you though for taking the time to post your specs. All the best.

Thanks for the link Paul.Very interesting reading.I find it kind of funny at how the settings between peoples rigs differ because of the different graphics cards etc. Some are close and yet others are literally Worlds apart. What would be ideal for me is to find someone with a similar Geforce 7800GS card, with the 512 on-board RAM as well, and be able to compare their settings.I also find it strange at how sometimes we have to actually go Back to an earlier driver to sort out an issue like this.Thank you very much again to all of you that posted and took part in this thread.

SteveThe settings I suggested were implemented when I had a 7900GT 512 and 2 gig of RAM, so not that far from what you've got now. Don't be fooled into thinking that the latest drivers are the cures for all ills. Sometimes rolling back to earlier drivers give better results. As someone else here has suggested, it all depends on what your PC spec is, what works for one doesn't necessarily work for another.I would be interested what you end up with, please let us all know. All the best
