  1. PC Pilot, another magazine to go to 'every two months'. I think they underestimated those loyal to FS9, their magazine recently is (as is commerrcially expected) heavily biased towards FSX.Was there any mention of timescales?
  2. In answer to your original question, a good place to start would be for you to tell us the spec of your PC. Telling us Windows 7 and nothing else makes it a bit hard for us to answer your query.
  3. I'm right here man, I reckon I could run to the postage though. Thanks in advance
  4. The new design is horrible and cluttered. And, why oh why do I have to all of a sudden have to start logging in again(after my username and password are stored on my PC) when the format changed. Please remember the old adage, if it aint broke, don't fix it!

It has been reported both here and on many other sites that frame loss is more likely in the VC mode than the oridinary 2D mode. Think it has something to do with all the gauges and screens that are on the VC panels. I fly Overland models and always select the non VC ones because I know that the VC ones come at a cost (framerate wise). Someone asked what is a good fs9.cfg. If I could answer question I would be a rich man. No two configs produce the same results and it's a case of trial and error to find the set up that works for you. If I could pick just one thing that's helped me and that's a programme called gamebooster that switches off all the junk that tends to run in the backround but which isn't really needed for flight sim.Keep the faith!

No, FSX is way more CPU intensive than FS9 and a 2.33Ghz CPU should run FS9 fine.I have found that FS9 works great if it's rweaked nicely. Look at the .cfg file and make changes, do regular defrags, nHancer is a must with an nVidia card and look at things like Gamebooster which shuts down all the stuff you don't need running when using FS9. All these tips and many more that are on this site and others will help with the smooth running of Fs9.

One word my friend, nHancer. Coupled with a good set of tweaks this can raise the performance of an averagely performing FS9 to new heights.

    Have you got nHancer?
  9. ChrisGlad to see you sold your system, hope you got what you wanted for it.
  10. Prosessor: Q6600 2.4GhzMotherboard: Model: 0CT017, manufactured by DellMemory: 2x1024 MB ( 333MHz ) DDR2 QuimondaGraphics: nVidia GeForce 8600 GTSPSU: 375WFrom the top, the CPU isn't good enough, the memory (333Mhz), I thought my 800 was pants, is woeful. Get rid of that graphics card and do something about the PSU. Apart from those things you have a great PC!!Sarcasm over, you need to think about starting from scratch. Most people I know who own Dells say they can't do anything with them, such as component upgrade and overclocking. Have a look at the many threads on here and other websites to get an idea of what would make a great rig.
  11. ChrisThought you were moving back to gloomy Scotland earlier on this year. Your location is still showing as Perth, Australia.Did you come to your senses?
  12. I thought nHancer was only any good for nVidia cards, he has an ATI.
  13. You may also need to look at your PSU, you haven't said what you currently have but upgrades nearly alwys need that 'bit more umph', so beware.
  14. Hi ReneI too have tweaked these numbers (along with many other in the fs9.cfg file) up and down for ages. I have now arrived at what works for me but I can tell you that a mate of mine copied my cfg file and put it into his system and the results were 'orrible!!So, as libman has eluded to, there isn't a 'one fix for all scenarios' situation. Oh that there was, it would have saved me many hours and hair!Good luck in your quest for one of the holy grails of flight sim, the dreaded case of the cfg file.
