Looking left, right using number pad

Featured Replies

One of my favorite features in fs9 was the ability to use the numbers pad to look left, right, side etc. Is there a way to do this using fsx? When I press the keypad numbers, what I get is a pan. Thanks for your help.Jose

I thought about that. When I used f9 in vc mode I was still able to get the quick look. Thanks for the input. I'm hoping that someone here has figured out how to do it using the VC.

Jose,The actual answer is, of course you can. It will require you to have permission to edit the cameras.cfg in your operating system. You have to find the cameras.cfg file (in XP this is in the user's documents and setting folder Application Data\Microsoft\FSX)Once you find it, good idea to make a link to the folder - you'll be editing a lot here perhaps....The 2D camera def is set to default ORDINAL (8 compass points) for both the num pad and the tophat. (Why?)The VC camera def is set to default to PAN with both tophat and num pad..2D - originalSnapPbhAdjust = OrdinalSnapPbhReturn = TruePanPbhAdjust = OrdinalPanPbhReturn = TrueVC - originalSnapPbhAdjust = SwivelSnapPbhReturn = FalsePanPbhAdjust = SwivelPanPbhReturn = FalseI've set both of mine to:SnapPbhAdjust = OrdinalSnapPbhReturn = TruePanPbhAdjust = SwivelPanPbhReturn = Falsecompass points from num pad; pan with tophat...you may wish to do the same in the Nearest Tower camera since it is also set to pan in both modes like the VC...Hope this gets you back to what you're used to.Loyd

Loyd,Thank you so much.I've been dealing with this for so long and today I stopped the insanity and asked and YOU RESPONDED.I'll try your settings first.I like the hat switch to pan but I want the Key pads to quick look as in fs9.Thanks a million. WORKED PERFECTLY WITH YOUR SETTINGS.

Of course (If I don't say it, someone else will) - the easiest way to do this is to purchase a TrackIR :( It is my favorite piece of hardware.(But I'm glad you got a real answer to your question)
