Anyone else getting this behavior?

Featured Replies

I have recently noticed that I can't seem to crash into buildings or terminals with my addon products. Aerosoft's manhattan and sanfran sceneries and FSDT's airport addons I can fly right through all of the buildings without crashing. The default scenery and buildings behaves as normal and I have no problem crashing into them. I just really noticed this because when I try to land on the metlife helipad in the aerosoft scenery my helo just sinks through the building. I have always just avoided the buildings to avoid crashing into them without knowing they wouldn't cause a crash. All damage and crash detection is enabled as well. The aerosoft people say they can land their helo on the metlife building without issue so maybe something strange is going on here with addon scenery? Anyone else having this issue?

Just guessing ... crash detection in FSX options

I already said in my first post it's enabled but thanks for reading anyway ;) Plus it only happens with aerosoft and fsdt addons.

I believe scenery objects can be created with "crash boxes" that surround them. But the crash boxes can also be deleted by the developer, which I think is a good idea since AFAIK the box doesn't follow the exact contours of the building. If user has "detect crashes" checked, all too often they will get an unexpected crash, which of course ends their flight (in worst case it crashes right at startup so you can never stop it). The user then complains to the developer about the crashing.IMHO crashing into buildings doesn't really add any realism. Maybe if you are trying to taxi into a tight spot, and want the crash to show you "failed" but in normal usage, I think it causes problems more than realism.scott s..
