September 9, 200916 yr Hi,Can anyone clarify whether there is any available way of purchasing and installing the J41, where the FS PC does not have an internet connection ?I own all PMDG products to date, but have just moved house, and am using a new broadband supplier - I have no issues with our main domestic PC connecting to the internet but have had 4 days of strife trying to get my FS PC connected to the internet, without success. (In my previous home, my FS PC used a USB modem - that's no longer an option and I have a complex issue with my ethernet adaptor on the FS PC)....... to cut a long story short, I have no LAN connectivity on the FS PC and will not have until I reinstall Windows, which I won't be doing until the full Win 7 is released.Dying to get my hands on the PDG J41 but looks like I am prevented from doing so, as the PMDG website states an internet connection is required .................... As I do have an internet connection, but not on the FS PC, is there any way of doing a licence transfer / key procedure between the PCs, similar to what Flight 1 offer ?Yours hopingly !David.
September 10, 200916 yr I don't think there is. Quoted from the online shop. : Please see the PMDG BAe JS4100 product page for more information on this simulation. * This is an FSX ONLY product. * This product uses only a Virtual Cockpit. * You must have Flight Simulator X to install this product. * This product requires a live connection to the internet for installation.Note: Digitally delivered products are not refundable. September 10, 200916 yr Hi Paul,Thanks for the reply, yep I saw that but there are a couple of other devs that state that but that also offer a solution for activations where the FS PC isn't internet connected (but don't necessarily state it on their marketing or website)...... I guess I was hoping that this applied to PMDG.It looks like not !I should say that I have also emailed PMDG to ask this question but received no response, hence the post here to see if anyone knew the answer.Bah! No J41 for me............ and my loss !I'll have to wait a year for the boxed version ..... 'Doh!David.
September 10, 200916 yr Why don't you buy a 10 bucks RJ45 lan card ? That should solve your issue ? Cheers, Thomas
September 10, 200916 yr Oh it would be so nice if it were that simple! This is not the place to explain, but that's not an option - the PC has a built in 1394 / Ethernet, and has no spare PCI slots for a further NIC card ............. (it's a more complex issue than this suggests but that's the heart of the prob). What would be nice is a reply to pre-sales enquiries sent to PMDG's support email address ................... in the words of the Talking Heads track crosseyed & painless ; "I'm still waiting.........".If the answer is no, the answer is no, but if I take interest in a product and take the time to enquire, I expect the courtesy of a reply, especially as a long term customer, who owns all previous PMDG products.David.
September 10, 200916 yr You simply need an internet connection for downloading the package... And for the verification once loading the plane up for the first time.I recommend you bring your FS PC over to where you have an internet connection and do the full download and installation there. You don't need the internet to fly it, obviously. Erik L.
September 11, 200916 yr Sorry that doesn't help - as it said in my original post, the issue is not the provision of the internet, it's with the specific PC I use for FS.So, yes, I know I don't need the internet to use the J41, but I also cannot connect the FS PC to the internet for the 'validation'.Still no reply to any emails to PMDG. Also interesting to see that PMDG Commercial members are in attendance on this forum (vscimone is responding to other posts), yet this simple question from a customer goes ignored .....................By the way, I fit into the category of 'PMDG lover' not 'PMDG basher', just so that's clear ....... but I've always had a response to questions in the past. What's going on here guys ?David.
September 11, 200916 yr How many more times would you like to have your question answered? Paul Smith.
September 12, 200916 yr Commercial Member David,I have answered your emails to support@ twice now. Please check your Spam filter to see if your ISP is picking them off. I don't know how else to reply to you.Just to be clear, you cannot install the J41 without having at least a temporary internet connection to complete the product licensing. If you are unable to establish at least a temporary connection due to the reasons listed above, you will not be able to install it and should wait for the CD version from Aerosoft to be released.Hope this clarifies things.Regards Paul Gollnick Manager Customer/Technical Support Precision Manuals Development Group www.precisionmanuals.com
