IPC BIN files

Featured Replies

I notice, when I create a flight plan in fsx, that there are now four files instead of three. The latest arrival is IPC BIN file. What is it? Where did it come from? Is it needed? Shall I delete it? Help, please.Jock

They are binary files from FSUIPC, recording the state of the FSUIPC4 offsets relevant to add-on programs at the time a Flight is saved (not when a plan is created!). FSUIPC4 provides options to load these back with flights. As well as returning ancillary program variables when going back to a previous state, it helps when you've had an FS crash and want to reload it without necessarily restarting all the ancillary programs. By loading the FSUIPC4 offsets too things like programmed hotkeys and the like are restored. You'll find the options for reloading the data in the Miscellaneous tab in FSUIPC4 options. The default setting for "Reload FSUIPC data" is actually "never", and in that case the ipcbin files are not produced, so you must have turned the option on, maybe without reading the manual or understanding what it does?If you don't need the ones you've saved, you can delete them. They do no harm except use a little disk space.RegardsPete

Pete,First of all, my apologies for not seeing your reply, for which many thanks.I wait until notified via an email that there is a reply to my queries. This did not happen, so I assumed there were no replies. Add to that an absence from home for the last eleven days, and you may be inclined to show a little lenience!I must, of course, pay more attention to the manual with my registered copy of FSUIPC, an application which I would not like to be without, so thank you for that.Once again, my apologies for giving the wrong impression.Regards,Jock
