September 13, 200916 yr You did not mention if you were using the de-icing switches. Were you? Justin Paull
September 13, 200916 yr I thought they was switched on before i took off!!!! then when i looked up at the panel they was but then this happend????I think Justin was asking about the prop and engine anti-ice switches (further to the right on the bottom of the overhead).Does icing actually affect flight characteristics, or is it purely a visual effect? September 13, 200916 yr l`m sure its just a visual effect.. l`ve flown with the light flashing nothing happened.Paul
September 13, 200916 yr Icing will affect the plane's handling if you haven't done anything about it. It's definitely not just a visual effect. The de-ice boots run for a few cycles, but not continuously, so if you're in icing conditions for longer than a couple minutes, you'll need to periodically hit the wing de-ice. Engine anti-ice, windshield anti-ice will run continuously, and prop de-ice will run in either long or short cycles as you choose.
