September 14, 200916 yr Hi. I've been abroad for several months - and this is my first post in the reincarnated forums! What a pleasure to be able to get back here: thanks to everyone's hard work at AVSIM...OK, I just installed a new scenery for LEST:www.simugalicia.com/noticias/Novedad-_-Aeropuerto-de-Santiago-de-Compostela-LEST-para-FS9.htmlIt looks pretty nice, but I am a bit nonplussed at the huge number of extra bitmaps that the instructions (assuming I understood the Spanish) say to put into the main FS9/texture folder - well over 2000 of them. Some of these (the Nova ones) I have already, but even so, this almost doubles the size of the folder. Even when I do put the files into the FS9 main texture folder and load up the airport, I can see nothing extra over and above when I leave them out.So, can anyone say what these files are supposed to add, and why, if they really are necessary (else, I suppose, why would the developer have included them?) they cannot be placed in the LEST/texture folder? 90% of them are new to my (very extensive!) setup, so are not going to be used by any other scenery.Or did I misunderstand something? Thanks!Martin S Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
September 17, 200916 yr I had the same problems with this airport. I downloaded it because I was inquisitive about the huge download size in relation to what should be a rather small local airport. I installed it in my FS9 and had a look around. The first thing I noticed was that there were two very large control towers and an untextured hangar present on the airport. The next thing was an elevation problem, i.e. the airport was on top of a plateau, high above the surrounding countryside. This and some other problems caused me to immediately start thinking about deleting the whole thing and putting my guard up but I did try to correct some of the issues first by messing around with the author's .BGL files (which had very strange names). When I saw the huge extra texture file I firstly removed all non .BMP files and any other unnecessary garbage. I then backed up my existing FS9 main texture folder and made a merge of the two. As far as I could see, the only difference was that now the untextured hangar had become textured. So I kept my merged main texture file (and the original backup) because the extra textures could become handy at some point in the future. But after extensively messing around by using all kinds of trial and error procedures with the .BGL files, I gave up and deleted the whole thing.I was not very impressed with this newby Spannish author's LEST nor with his other airports/sceneries in the general vicinity and I would want to advise him that before uploading his sceneries he should always check for and remove any unnecessary garbage first. Secondly he should realise that there are very many non Spannish speaking simmers out there and that he should find someone who can translate his instructions at least into English, before uploading anything. Thirdly, he should upload only those textures which his scenery .BGL files are calling for in the scenery's own texture folder. His method of uploading a bucket full of textures of which only a very few are used, is not appreciated.Hans.

What instructions state -in a rather clumsy way even for a Spaniard- is:1. Assuming <FS9> is the root folder of your FS9 installation, you must create the folder <FS9>\Addon Scenery Espa --- Simmer since 1984. September 24, 200916 yr Author Thanks for the replies.I kept the airport - it at least looks better than the default one. I keep all my downloaded FS zip files backed up on an external hard drive (I have thousands of them!) so I can always put in the extra bitmaps if needs be. But as I said, I didn't see any difference with the 2000+ bmps added to my texture folder.I didn't notice an untextured hangar, maybe I already had the necessary bmp file in my texture folder - I had about 500 of the 2200 bmps already.Martin Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
