Captain Sim 757. Going back to version 2.1

Featured Replies

Since the "fix", I am experiencing a CDT if I try to select any other aircraft after CS 757. Never had a CTD with the previous versions. Also, the course display on the ND seems very strange. The active leg doesn't stay in the center but moves all over the display making navigation difficult. The VOR/OBS was never corrected like they claim. I get stuttering where I never did in the past. Because of these issues, I would rather use version 2.1 and my question is: I set a restore point before I installed the 2.2 upgrade. If I do a system restore, will it put version 2.1 back or do I need to manually uninstall 2.1and put the 2.1 back in?Michael

Hello,AFAIK a system restore in this case is useless. The restore function is only effective on the "system" as said the name (OS drivers etc ...)Nothing to do with FS2004.Regards.bye.gifGus.

I haven't seen a problem after installing v2.2... :(

Hi.Gus, are you sure about what you stated regarding the system restore function.I was always under the impression that using system restore would put everything back to a previous point. In fact, I seem to remember a MS agent telling me that when using a system restore point, then anything I had added to FS would have to be added again as it would get rid of the change I had made!Just checking, as this would seem to solve Michael's problem by doing just this.Just a thought.Thanks.

Steve.

Microsoft System Restore restores SYSTEM affecting changes only (which is why its aptly named System Restore). For instance, if you install a program that made changes to your system and your system started crashing, you can use System Restore to bring your system back to a restore point which was before you installed the program. Many programs that seriously affect system files automatically force the system to set a restore point (like many major MS Patches) so that you don't have to go all the way back to the automatic daily restore point. On the other hand if you install an add-on that causes MSFS to start crashing then System Restore will not help you. If you just found out that you deleted your life's memoirs that you had in a Microsoft Word DOC File, restoring the system to yesterday won't help you. In this case, Windows could care less about whether you patched Captain Sim or not because the CS 757 doesn't make any system changes other than to place a program group in your start menu. Now, if you go back far enough, you CAN restore your system to a time before you installed the CS 757 and it will disappear from your start menu....but it will still be there in the MSFS directory, version 2.2, ready for take off (and CTD).I keep hearing people on this forum telling others to do a system restore and I shake my head because 99% of the time the advice is given to resolve a situation that has absolutely NOTHING to do with what System Restore was designed to do.So, the short answer. You don't like 2.2 then simply uninstall CS 2.2 and reinstall 2.1. The uninstall / reinstall process is very easy and MUCH faster than doing a system restore (even if it would help you--which, again, it won't).FYI, I've got the 2.2 patch and have had no problems with either the 757-200 or 757-300. Can it be a repaint that you downloaded that is causing you problems?

For anyone interested. I did a system restore and I'm now flying version 2.1 again. No more CTD or stutter. Michael
