Hello,For a while, I had both FS9 and FSX installed and decided to remove FSX as I was not using it much.On checking if FS9 is still working, voila, it does not. As soon as the logo screen appears, it disappears and nothing happens.Any ideas on how to fix this, would be most welcome.Henk.

Uninstalling FSX on a machine which also has FS2004 on it will most often create a Registry error for FS2004.Use this great little utility (free) from the good folks at Flight1 to check and repair the Registry: http://www.flight1software.com/files/FS_Registry_Repair.exeHope that helps.

Could it be running minimized?Could deleting FSX have also deleted all or part of the FS9 aircraft in your default flight? If so, you can try changing the line "SITUATION=..." in your fs9.cfg file to point to a different .FLT file that hasn't been affected by removing FSX (i.e. a default acft and airport). Your can also try locating the "STARTUP" section in the fs9.cfg and change LOADSIM=1 to LOADSIM=0 to allow you to enter the create a flight menu without loading a default flight.Bob ScottColonel, USAF (ret)ATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VColorado Springs, CO

This has happend to me before and FS repair didn't work for me either.I had to reinstall FS9,I never uninstalled anything but when I put the disc in it didn't even show that it was installed and gave no option to uninstall,so I simply clicked install and it installed whatever was missing.Not sure if this was the best way to do it,but it worked for me and meant I didn't spend hours upon hours putting back all my addons.

If the Registry Repair utility showed the correct path and/or you changed it to the correct path and it still does not want to load, I would try renaming your FS9.cfg file to FS9.cfg.BAK (that will disable it) and allow FS2004 to build a fresh new cfg file when you start it up again. It will use all of the original defaults so you may have to make some adjustments to your settings etc.Keep us posted.

When searching manually, I can see the file listed in c:/documents and settings/henk/application data/microsoft/fs9On further checking, it shows that the folder is nothing- meaning, it is not an archive or hidden. As far as I'm aware, it should be archive.Henk.

Are you saying the FS9 FOLDER is empty?It should have at least three other subfolders in it as well as 4 or 5 "files" including the FS9.cfg file.Please clarify.

No, it's not empty. If one left click on the folder and select properties, it shows 'hidden' here. I'm sure it should be 'archive'.It does have the files you mentioned, Opa.Henk.

That sounds better - On my system that folder was original "hidden" also - just Right click on it and remove the "hidden" attribute - remove it on the FS9.cfg file also. It is not needed.

this happend to me on a system that has both FSX and FS9..GO TO start then run type msconfig look under start up if FSX Is on the start up make it so it dont start up when you boot the computer..this worked for me i hope it works for your system and solves the problem.. sta

Thanks for your input. But this is not the problem. I found it.When uninstalling FSX, it took away the FS9 entries as well. This means, new install of FS9.Henk.
