FS9 ported planes running faster than native FSX planes?

Featured Replies

Hi All,All this time I've been under the impression that FS9 originals ported to FSX had bad FPS. For instance, the Flight1 ATR-72 and LDS 767.Several times I tried to get the ATR and 767 running at decent FPS and just gave up. I decided to wait for the J41 since it would be FSX native.Well, I've been doing alot of fooling around lately and have delightfully discovered that my ATR and 767 are giving better frame rates! My ATR is getting 30 FPS (locked) where it used to get 15. I've done a couple of flights now and those planes are more pleasant to use than the FSX native planes!Maybe I've missed something but I'm surprised. Anyone else seeing this?(I also posted something in video cards and drivers)My machine:ASUS P5QEIntel 96504GB 1023 Mhz mem.GTX 280

Sounds like you may have had some problems else where with your system. You cannot compare the ATR-72 or the LDS 767 to the PMDG JS41 its like comparing apples amd oranges. You should have always been able to run the ATR-72 and LDS-767 at 30FPS locked on your system (with some common snese settings on your sliders). The PMDG JS41 is a much more demanding model and will tax your system harder. Try reconfiguring your JS41 for slightly lower resolution in the configuration utility. It will make a noticeable increase in performance and a not so noticeable difference in visual quality.Look here for an example: http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=261287Regards,Bob

Ok I've been a little bit confusing. I didn't mean to directly compare the ATR and J41. Trust me, I can see the difference! What I'm saying is that my ol' "FS9" planes jumped from being very slow relative to FSX natives to being very fast relative. This is exciting because I had previously believed that FS9 ports were unusable. It also appeared to be that the online consensous agreed that FS9 ports were very slow. You could also be right that I also may have fixed something that's been broken a long time. In either case, I'm just wondering if anyone knew what might make such a difference.I'm really enjoying simming right now and I don't want to go backwards to find out what it was, as I sure you know tweaking configs, test, tweak, test, argh, tweak, test can take a long time. It's great because my FSX thanks to those planes is catching up to my FS9 in terms of planes.
