CTD with FSX

Featured Replies

Can anyone help with an annoying problem I'm having with FSX. This only happens when I am flying a quality 3rd party aircraft like the PMDG JS41 or similar. I am pretty sure its a problem with my system and not the PMDG JS41, but I'm hoping someone on this forum may have had a similar problem and found a fix.I can fly the JS41 for 20 mins or so without any problems then suddenly, without touching anything, the gauges get flashing horizontal lines in them then my computer locks up. I don'y get any error messages, it just freezes and sometimes goes to the 'blue screen of death'. This also happens when flying the Real Air Duke but not any of the FSX default aircraft, and it always starts with these flashing horizontal lines in the panel gauges ??I have tried all the video drivers under the sun but nothing seems to help. My system is as followsIntel Extreme X9650 at 3.00 GHz - 4 mb Ram - Vista Home Premium 64 bit - Nvidia 8800 GTX 768mbGlen

The blue screen is usually a hardware or driver problem. Vista should give you a dialog box after restarting stating that it experienced an error and will offer to search the internet for solutions. I had this happen once, on doing the search it said my RAID driver was a problem but I don't have RAID. It only happened once in one year, but it is an example of things to look for.

Thanks Dan for your help. When it freezes it doesn't always go to the blue screen, so sometimes it starts normally on reboot. If it does restart with a message as you describe I'll let it search for a solution. Every time I have seen a silimar problem on the internet, the video card is usually a 8800 with Vista as the operating system.Glen

A few months ago, there was a couple of threads concerning the nVidia drivers. I can't recall the details, but some were reporting success by rolling back to an earlier driver.
