September 28, 200916 yr I realize that the JS41 is the purist flight simmers dream and I appreciate the authenticity and realism. But I submit that there are many of us who would enjoy it just as much even if we don't know all the intricate details. Time is precious and limited and perhaps 30 minutes or an hour is all we can spend for a satisfying flight. With that in mind has anybody put together a simplified tutorial for the FMS? Perhaps picture by picture? I've been pouring over the manuals and I've done it successfully a couple of times ... but not consistently. I'm not interested in all the waypoints and fixes .... just a little "Direct" To would satisfy me. Say from SLC IFR to Pocatello. About 30 minutes out of my day. I'm sure I'm making it more complicated than necessary but a walkthru with the FMS and linking up to the AP would really be helpful to us who may like it a little less complicated, but we're still willing to part with cash for the product. We can always go back and learn the intricacys after the confidence is acquired. Or so it seems to me. September 28, 200916 yr You can fly the JS41 with the FMS turned off, in fact I think getting the rusty old VOR navigation toolkit out and using it is very satisfying. Dan Downs KCRP
September 29, 200916 yr Author That's true, and I do. In fact I cheat a little by using the GPS. However, I would like to learn just the basic simple "set and go" with the FMS. I'm getting there, but the docs are not helpful.
