FS9 to FSX Wing Views

Featured Replies

How do I get my 6 wing views working in FSX that I now use in FS9?

The camera system has changed for FSX so nothing will be the same.I basically have the same question with an addition:I thought I remembered a tool that runs in FSX where you could easily create new camera views. If that tool exists, what is it? Or if there are multiple ones by now, what is the best one? Also, the one thing I never liked about FSX wing views because they are from the external point of view which makes the sound too loud. It is as if you are sitting on the wing. Is there a way to make them internal - as if you are a passenger?

This is actually a very irritating feature of FSX, I don't know why they placed the camera outside even for wingviews and thus give external sounds! FS9 was perfect for this why did they go and mess it up.Im not sure this works but this is an idea I have. Heres what I would try:Go to the sound folder you want to tweak and make sure you have a backup of the folder in case things go funny! Now examine the sound files within it. You will notice that there are two "sets" of files inside. One internal and one external. The external ones are usually shown by the letter "X" in front of the name. Each internal sound usually has a corresponding external sound. Here is an example of some sounds to make it clearer:------------------------------------------Comb100Comb101Whine202Whine203XComb100XComb101XWhine202XWhine203------------------------------------------So to do what you want to do is simple:First delete all the "X" sounds and then:1. Copy-paste all the internal sounds into a temporary folder.2. Rename them by placing an "X" in front of them3. Paste them back into the sound folderBasically you are telling FSX that these are external sounds when they are not! You *should* now hear internal sounds from external viewpoints. If that does not work then the culprit has to be the main sound folder (FSX\Sound). I have a sneaky feeling it is the sounds in THIS folder that need to be modded - replacing them with internal sounds. Specially wind and engine roar. But since its a universal folder I dont know how you would customize it. Because you might tweak it for A320 sounds but then when you fly your 777 you will get the A320 sounds. Unless you have different sound folders (sound.a320, sound.777 etc) that you would keep having to rename....but what a pain that would be!

You can actually create wingviews in the same way as you did in FS9 using the camera definitions. Here are some I made for the Posky 737-600[CameraDefinition.0] Title = "Forward Left"Guid = {0ae3f864-da10-4e5a-977c-b9bba47d6f7a}Description = Forward LeftOrigin = CenterSnapPbhAdjust = SwivelSnapPbhReturn = FALSEPanPbhAdjust = SwivelPanPbhReturn = FALSETrack = NoneShowAxis = FALSEAllowZoom = TRUEInitialZoom = 0.90ShowWeather = YesInitialXyz = 2.4, 1, -3InitialPbh = 3, 0, 280XyzAdjust = TRUECategory=AircraftMomentumEffect=TRUEClipMode=Minimum[CameraDefinition.1]Title = "Forward Right"Guid = {54F54B8A-3EC2-2D4E-8D10-B8F9D0F16ACC}Description = Forward RightOrigin = CenterSnapPbhAdjust = SwivelSnapPbhReturn = FALSEPanPbhAdjust = SwivelPanPbhReturn = FALSETrack = NoneShowAxis = FALSEAllowZoom = TRUEInitialZoom = 0.90ShowWeather = YesInitialXyz = -2.4, 1, -3 //Horizontal,Vertical,Seat NumberInitialPbh = 3, 0, 080XyzAdjust = TRUECategory=AircraftMomentumEffect=TRUEClipMode=Minimum[CameraDefinition.3] Title = " Left Wing"Guid = {54F54B8A-3EC2-2D4E-8D10-B9F9D0F16ACC}Description = Origin = CenterSnapPbhAdjust = SwivelSnapPbhReturn = FALSEPanPbhAdjust = SwivelPanPbhReturn = FALSETrack = NoneShowAxis = FALSEAllowZoom = TRUEInitialZoom = 0.90ShowWeather = YesInitialXyz = 2.4, 1, -1InitialPbh = 3.8, 0, 265XyzAdjust = TRUECategory=AircraftMomentumEffect=TRUEClipMode=Minimum[CameraDefinition.4] Title = " Right Wing"Guid = {54F54B8A-3EC2-2D4E-8D10-B9F9D0F16ACD}Description = Origin = CenterSnapPbhAdjust = SwivelSnapPbhReturn = FALSEPanPbhAdjust = SwivelPanPbhReturn = FALSETrack = NoneShowAxis = FALSEAllowZoom = TRUEInitialZoom = 0.90ShowWeather = YesInitialXyz = -2.4, 1, -1InitialPbh = 3.8, 0, 95XyzAdjust = TRUECategory=AircraftMomentumEffect=TRUEClipMode=Minimum[CameraDefinition.5] Title = " Left Engine Look Forward"Guid = {54F54B8A-3EC2-2D4E-8D10-B9F9D0F16ACE}Description = Origin = CenterSnapPbhAdjust = SwivelSnapPbhReturn = FALSEPanPbhAdjust = SwivelPanPbhReturn = FALSETrack = NoneShowAxis = FALSEAllowZoom = TRUEInitialZoom = 0.90ShowWeather = YesInitialXyz = -0.5, 1, 3.5InitialPbh = 7, 0, 310XyzAdjust = TRUECategory=AircraftMomentumEffect=TRUEClipMode=MinimumTo understand how to create these and to get an idea of how the camera system in FSX works I would highly recommend these sites:http://www.fs-seine-75.com/SDK/Core%20Util...nfiguration.htmhttp://www.fsdeveloper.com/wiki/index.php?...e_cameras_viewshttp://forums.flightsim.com/fswiki/index.p...ra_Introductionhttp://forums.flightsim.com/fswiki/index.p..._GLOBAL_CAMERAS :(

First delete all the "X" sounds and then:
Everything you wrote was fine except for this bit...NEVER "DELETE" ANY DEFAULT FILES!Rename them if you wish, but do not ever "delete" 'em... :(

NEVER "DELETE" ANY DEFAULT FILES!
That is good advice...but I had it covered hee hee:
Go to the sound folder you want to tweak and make sure you have a backup of the folder in case things go funny!
